 kUBOTA L2900 GLOW PLUG LIGHT

Ok Kubota experts tell me how to troubleshoot. my orange glow plug light no longer comes on. tractor runs fine, but the light doesn't function. I have not checked the bulb, but I wanted to know if there was any other common cause. it was working back in the fall I know. Thanks for any input

 kUBOTA L2900 GLOW PLUG LIGHT

Guess you’ll have to settle with something from a Ford owner. The wiring diagram for my glow plug indicator is a bit confusing. As near as I can tell, in the pre-heat position, the indicator is in series with the glow plugs. It probably is more a resistive wire that takes time for current flow to make it start glowing than a bulb. Trouble is that if the indicator is open then it doesn't look like the plugs get voltage while the switch is in pre-heat position.

The plugs seem to get voltage when the switch is in the start position, as well as the pre-heat position. However, the indicator isn't in the circuit in the start position. I can't understand why the plugs would still be drawing current when trying to turn over the starter, but that's the way the diagram looks.

If your tractor is wired like my Ford, there is the possibility that the plugs aren't actually working in the pre-heat position. Some diesels start pretty easily even if it is fairly cold. To verify the plugs actually are working, the hot wire could be taken off the glow plug harness and tested for voltage with a VOM in the pre-heat position. Ohmmeter readings from the harness and from each glow plug to ground should be zero, or at least low. Resistance also should be low from the hot lead back to a terminal on the starter switch, but you’d need a manual to know which terminal. Another possibility is that the circuit is resistive due to a bad plug or other cause, and the circuit isn’t drawing enough current to light the indicator.
