 Kubota B6000E Battery Charging

I have just got my first tractor, a Kubota B6000E. The wiring is a mess. The only electrics that work are the glow plugs and the starter. Using my meter, I can tell that the battery isn't getting charged. Can someone tell me where the electricity to charge should come from? I can see no alternator. Many Thanks.

Wish I could say for sure. However, I'm aware that the alternators on some Kubotas are driven from places other than the fan belt so you may have to look a little. When I think about it, the only places on a diesel that likely have wiring are the starter/solenoid, the alternator and the temperature sensor. I'd just look for some wiring (probably three wires) where one of them is fairly heavy gauge but smaller than the starter wiring.

When you open the hood it should be on the top of the engine and it is driven by a belt. Kubota's conversion of language at that time would call it a dynamo.

 Kubota B6000E Battery Charging

I have a B6000 and a B6000E. The electrics were in poor condition on both.
The alternator is built into the fan behind the radiator. There are three wires coming of the alternator behind the fan. Check for voltage on all three wires while the engine is running. If there is voltage, the rectifier may be bad. My wiring behind the instrument panel had a short (melted wire) and the terminals were pretty rusty. You may just have a poor connection somewhere.
I was able to get all the electrics working on my B6000E, but my B6000 is still just like yours. My B6000E still has a short somewhere because I can see tiny sparks where the hood closes onto the instrument panel.
Good Luck,
Dan

Dan: Just a comment about sparks between the console and hood. I've had some electrical aggravations with my mid-80's Ford. They almost always turned out to be poor grounds. You perhaps are aware that almost all tractor/automotive wiring are single wire systems that use the body/frame for ground returns. Your situation may be that the hood provides a lower resistance ground path than the console mounts so current flows through the hood and vibration makes and breaks contact between the hood and console. You might want to check the resistance of the console to a good ground with an ohmmeter. It should be close to zero.

that tractor has a magneto .....and a rectifier on the dash......it's very expensive to fix......i mounted an alternator from a 1988 mazda b2200 p/u on mine...and it works fine .....the bolt holes lin up and everything

it you want to know how to hook it up let me know and i'll draw you a wiring diagram....

by the way the magneto is the thing with the fan attached and it has three wire comming out...( looks like a water pump) but this tractor does not have a water pump..

thanks
