Kubota B7500 - Questions before purchase

I am considering the purchase of a Kubota B7500 HSD with Loader & Backhoe and would really appreciate the insight and opinion from those on this message board (where I've already found a wealth of information - thanks). The tasks I have to perform are: Digging around the perimeter of our house (5-6' depth) to waterproof basement; Digging out collapsed basement wall of another house; Laying 1000' of 4" solid/perforated drain pipe; Occasional cleaning of 750' open ditch; Landscaping tasks (grading steep banks to more gentle slope, etc.); Electric, water and gas line installation 200'; Septic system installation; Installing a decorative pond (120 sq ft); Miscellaneous things that come up on occasion. After finishing the home projects, I'd be interested in doing occasional landscaping / backhoe work for others. I want to keep the scale down to part-time, smaller jobs and tasks (work full time as a firefighter 24 hours on / 48 hours off, retire in 7-8 years). (Have a JD318 for lawn maintenance / front dozer blade work and plan on keeping it.)My Questions:Is the B7500 a suitable size to perform these tasks (vs B2410 or others)?Which Front Loader would be best LA272 or LA302 ($225 more)? Is the 16" Hoe Bucket a good all around size (should I get a 10" bucket also ($350))?Reversible flip pads for backhoe (rubber/steel) a good investment ($150)?Tires - Bar Turf vs Contractor/Industrial tread?Engine block heater (reside in Ohio) ($45) worthwhile? What size trailer will I need (14' or 16')?Opinions / experience others have had with various attachments: Rotary tiller (or plow / disc harrow); box scraper; post hole digger; tire chains.I anticipate making a decision / purchase within the week. Thank you!

Kubota B7500 - Questions before purchase

Fireman (personally I'm a retired cop), whew, you're asking for a lot of information. I've used a lot of tractors, but don't have a backhoe, but I'll try to give you a little of nothing more than personal opinion. First, the B7500 will do the job, but the bigger the tractor, the faster you'll get the job done. I'd suggest you at least look at the B21 or L35 (specifically made for the backhoe), or the B2710 (which I have, after having had a B7100 for 4 years) or the B2910. Secondly, there are a lot of 3-point backhoes and people who like them, but if you research the messages on this , I think you'll find that a sub-frame mounted hoe is far safer and more durable. Thirdly, for tires, get the R4 (industrial) tires; more durable and better traction than turf tires. Fourth, engine block heater? Is it going to be stored indoors or out? I have no use for one in Texas, but might be a good idea in Ohio. Fifth, for a trailer, first choice would be the 16' tandem axle with brakes for safety, durability, etc., although it is possible to use a smaller one. Sixth, for implements; if you're going to be moving much dirt, smoothing, leveling, etc., I think a box blade is indispensable. If you're going to prepare seed beds, the tiller is great. I also use a 3-point finish mower on the yard, a brush hog elsewhere for mowing, a box blade, a moldboard plow, a double buster, and a cultivator. No way would I try to have a 9K sq. ft. vegetable garden without my tiller. If you have a backhoe, then you can dig the holes for planting trees, shrubs, etc. without a post hole auger, but if you're going to do much fence building, they're a fine implement. I don't have one, but have a cousin and a neighbor who do, so I know where to get one when I need it. Good luck with your shopping, and lots of us will be glad to try to help with any other specific questions.

The deeper I dig into this decision, the more I am leaning towards the 2710. It's more money but more machine also. I think the 7500 could do the job but with the 2710, I'd feel more strongly about this. Appreciate the comments so far - Thanks!
