any problems with bi-speed turn option ?

I'm getting best-and-final quotes for a B2410HSDB and am getting mixed feedback from dealers about the bi-speed turn option. Half say it is an advantage and is not a maintenance problem, and the other half say it's not smart because it requires one to be in 4WD all the time, it does not noticeably improve turning, and it makes the "devils" wear out quickly (needing frequent replacement). Any opinions / experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jim, got my B2400 over a year ago and now have right at 200 hours on it. It's a great little machine. I wanted to get the bi-speed turn on it because it came with everything else. The dealer talked me out of it because he said it was no real advantage and it was just something else to potentially go wrong, although he did say that he hadn't had too much trouble with them. To be honest, I haven't missed it. With the hydro transmission it is so easy to back up a little bit and then go forward again that you don't lose much time making tight turns. IMHO, I think it may fall into the "nice to have" rather than the "need to have" category. Good luck and enjoy your new machine.

any problems with bi-speed turn option ?

Obviously there must be folks who really like and/or need the bi-speed turn option on the Kubota or the Super Steer on the New Holland, but for me they would be a "feature", not a "benefit", so I not only would not pay extra for them, I'd probably pay extra to not have them. In other words, personal preference.

We have sold Kubota's both ways but we do not normally stock the bi-speed at this time. We have never worked on any that we have sold and I can see what the other dealers are talking about as far as more parts more things to wear out. Let's just look at your needs of the bi-speed turn. Do you have a lot of hills you mow that you would use four wheel drive? Would it be for loader work on hills? If you don't have the conditions or need to use four wheel drive all the time you wouldn't get any advantage of the bi-speed turn unless you just wanted to use it because you have it.

Thanks all for the info. After reviewing the particulars as well as my expected usage conditions, I have opted not to get the bi-speed option. Thanks again.
