I have a 2008 Kubota 3540 with GST, experencing a chattering when shifting between different speeds and also with the shuttle shift. It occurs about 50% of the time. It doesn't happen with the foot clutch. It feels like an old oil soaked clutch but it only has 300 hours and I don't see any oil leaking. My L2900 with the GST I traded in shifted smoothly for 12 years. I called the dealer and they have never heard of this occuring. Any ideas what to look for.

It sounds like the GST operation of the clutch is out of adjustment to me.

Clutch chattering usually means it's not fully releasing the clutch.

Does it happen, before, during, or after the shift?

Best of luck. ....

It happens after the shift, just as the clutch reingages in the new gear. ....

Sounds like it's not so much out of adjustment then, but more likely just very slow disengaging fully.

While it's never happened to us, or at least not that I've heard of anyway, I have heard of it happening.

Try running it back and forth through the gears some and see if it improves with usage.

One last thought, when was the last time the hydraulic fluid was changed? I've heard of some smaller components like that acting up before when it was past due & dirty.

Best of luck. ....

I got my tractor back from the dealer today. I passed on the feed back I received from the Tractor Board when they picked it up. The dealer adjusted the GST in a way that makes the shifts stronger and they changed the transmission oil and filter. The chattering is gone. Thanks for the advice. ....

Glad you got the problem fixed, and that in some small way we could help.

Best of luck. ....
