 Kubota BX2350/box blade question

Folks,
I just took delivery yesterday of my brand-new BX2350. She's a beaut, and she really seems to have some low-end grunt, just from the little bit I've driven her on our 4 acre property. I got the FEL, 60" MMM, Landpride reverse-till tiller, and Befco 48 box blade.

Have a question about the box blade set up. I disconnected my tiller in the barn, and went to connect the box blade to the 3point. I noticed that the lower link pins on both sides of the box blade were pointed to the outside of the 'tripod' stancions that go from the top of the box to the upper link pin, causing me to have to expand the lower links (via the hex nuts/turnbuckles on the link arms) all the way out, in order to hook the lower link eyelets onto the pins on the blade. The difference in necessary link width between the tiller and the box was enormous. But I'm wondering if I could simply reverse the pins on the box blade, by unscrewing the large hex nut on the opposite end of each pin (on the inside of the 'tripod')and simply reversing the pins so they face inwards. Has anyone done this? I think the implement is made to fit either a CUT or my SCUT, and that this reversal could be made. ONly reason I ask is that the metal on the blade where the three point tripod attaches to the top of the box began to moan as I worked the huge hex nut free. So now I'm wondering if unscrewing it will affect the construction of the box, e.g. the steel plating might come out of alignment with the hole once I remove the bolt. I doubt it would, but noticed this sound as I worked the first bolt loose, so wanted to ask what y'all think.

THanks in advance for your ideas.
Mike in NC

I can't speak to your specific implement but generally folks reverse those pins all the time with no detrimental effect.

Thanks KW. I'll also doublecheck with the manufacturer to be sure. Have a good one,

Mike,

Category "0" hitches use the pins pointed toward the middle of the implement. Category "1" hitches usually have the pins pointed toward the outside of the implement.

Both (Cat0 and Cat1) hitches use pins of the same diameter. Only the distance between the lower arms is different.

CatII and CatIII hitches are designed for much bigger implements and those pins will not fit into your lower 3-point arms.

The narrow setting is usually necessary for use on sub-compact tractors with a category "0" (zero) 3-point hitch.

You can use the pins when pointing in either direction. There is no right or wrong way. Both setups are acceptable.

Joel

Thanks alot guys I reversed the pins on my boxblade this weekend and it fits same as my LandPride rototiller's lower link pins now. Good stuff. I had to use liquid-wrench to get the 1 1/4" bolts loosened in order to reverse the pins- but smoothly sailing beyond that!
Mike
