HELP! on L2202/L275 piston and ring size

Having problems with my L2202 rebuild. Bearings and piston rod (new) fit perfectly, but the piston and rings are about 50 mm too small. The sleeves look original with no sign of being bored out. Kubota insists that they are providing the right parts.

I need the RIGHT part numbers to get my baby back into the field, this is the height of the winter clean-up here in Texas and I am burning my good weather.

How do the dimensions of the pistons and bore compare to the specs in the manual? That should clear up whether the dealer sold you the correct parts or not.

Yes, it was clear that they were too small but you didn't say if they matched the specs or not.

If they are too small for the specs then the dealer sold you the wrong parts. Why can't they find the right parts? Are they unwilling to make this right for you? Maybe the pistons were simply mislabeled.

Above is my question. Debating with a dealer and/or onliners will not get me where I need to be.

Tsterkel,

Before you can determine whether or not you received the wrong pistons, you'll first have to determine the proper specs for the factory original cylinder.

You say that the tractor "appears" to be original. However, without actually measuring the cylinder dimensions, there's no way to tell for sure.

You'll need to mic the cylinders to see if maybe they haven't been bored out and re-sleeved at some point in the past. If so, you'll need to find pistons and rings which are designed to fit the new sleeves.

While you're at it, I highly suggest you also measure the crankshaft journals, rod ends, and bearings, to be sure that they haven't been replaced with oversized parts as well.

Joel

Can anyone answer my simple question above?

Hello,,
just read your post now. You said L2202 is L275. I think you are mislead .
L2202 tractor has D1402L engine ......whilst ....
L275 tractor has a D1302 engine.

different engine bores & so piston rings smaller .

Try asking dealer if not drop me a line & I will try to get you part No.s
regards
