Kubota BX Engine Oil Pan Drain Plug Torque?

I have read the Kubota 2230 owner’s manual cover to cover and can't seem to find where it shows the torque rating to tighten the drain plug. I have been tightening it just by "feel", but would like to know if there is a proper torque listed some where. Thanks in advance for any information on the subject…
Stu

Kubota BX Engine Oil Pan Drain Plug Torque?

I asked this same question once. Search for the thread "Torque for Oil Plug". Net: everyone has their own method - but no one seems to publish specs on this.

Is there anything imprintd on the plug itself or on the pan?

As anecdote, when I wrote automotive service repair manuals the engineers were suppose to read our information, correct it or sign-off as good-to-go.

We had a feeling they were not reading our 200-page publications and just simply signing-off. So where we had torque specs we'd put a bogus spec like: "Tighten until it breaks then back it off a half a turn". Yup, sure enough they would approve it.

That said, the critcal thing to consider is the type of sealing (washer) the plug uses if any. Some plugs use a fiber washer or a plastic one that can crack with age or over-tightening. Metal washers can deform and leak. Just gotta be careful. The saying "If a little is good, a lot is better" when it comes to tightening doesn't apply here.

I asked my maintenance man out in the shop, his answer was "Tighter than leaking, looser than a mashed washer.".

So there you have it, the voice of experience......

Best of luck.
