 Kubota B7510 Stripped Oil Pan Plug

Are there any easy fixes to a stripped oil pan plug? If I have to go all the way and replace the pan, how do I get it out with the front wheel drive shaft in the way? Sincerely appreciate any/all help.

 Kubota B7510 Stripped Oil Pan Plug

Chuck,

My brother has a tool for fixing stripped oil pan plug holes. It's a self-tapping repair tool.

This tool slightly enlarges the oil pan plug hole, while creating new threads as it goes in. You'll need to find one of these tools at a good mechanic supplier outfit, and then a new plug to fit the hole.

Your local Snap-On or MAC tools truck might have what you're looking for.

 Kubota B7510 Stripped Oil Pan Plug

Try calling your Kubota dealer shop or a local machine shop and ask if they have a heli-coil kit. A good mechanic or machinist can drill out the hole in the oil pan, tap the new threads, and install the heli-coil in less than an hour.

For future purposes ALWAYS use a torque wrench when tightening the oil pan drain bolt on a diesel.

You might try going to a auto parts store they have oversize plugs just for that. They make new threads as you put them in. Real easy. Lee

I believe it's permatex that builds "Thread restore". It is an epoxy and will renew the threads and it works quite well. I've yet to have it fail in any applications, I currently have it loaded out to freind to remedy a stripped spark plug hole in a Wisconsin engine.
The last package I had went bad after a few years on the shelf so I had to buy a new package to fix a oil line going into a head from a turbo. I haven't had it fail yet and have done quite a few repairs with it.

The oil pan bolt does require regular removal so it is important to use proper gaskets to allow for lower torque applied so not to strip it. I'd consider your choices well as you know you will be there again!
