 B7610HSD vs BX2350

Hi! New to the board so thanks in advance for your responses.

My husband & I just bought a 10 acre property with just the house. We have lots to do including fencing, grading, landscaping, trenching, barn raising and mowing. Will have horses, dogs and wildlife area on the property. Need a MMM, FEL and will rent auger and backhoe. The land is slightly rolling and not a tree or shrub on the place.

The local Kubota dealer has a new 2006 B7610HSD (Turf Model) on clearance for $9900 including the mower deck. Says the original price is about $13,100. However, he is steering us away from it and suggesting a 2007 BX2350 w/ loader and deck for $12,575. According to everything I've researched the B7610 is the superior product (power wise) and also has a quick connect type deal for the backhoe (which we will rent, not buy). I'm hoping his "guidance" is not influenced by the size of his commission check.

My budget is about $12,000 but I want to get the best value for my money and spend less if possible. Used is hard to come by and doesn't seem that great of a deal due to Kubotas (and Deeres) holding their value. Deeres seem significantly higher priced for the same or lesser features.

Would appreciate any and all responses.

Thanks! Tammy in Minnesota

I have the B7610 and it is a great machine, and you are getting a great price, I think I paid more like $11.2 for the Tractor and MMM. I have the a 2004 and at that time there was no quick connect Backhoe, maybe that has changed.

Have you found a place that would rent you a backhoe attachment? Usually they take extra subframes, etc. that have to be installed right on the tractor. Unless you get a 3-point backhoe and those are generally frowned upon since they can easily damage a tractor, esp. in the hands of the uninitiated.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, I think I've been looking at the wrong tractor. I found the brochure on it and it says B7510HSDTR, not the 7610. The engine is only 21 hp w/ PTO of 16. Maybe the saleman was steering me right after all!

If you are going to need a backhoe even on an occasional basis, it might make sense to get a BX23 or BX24. It doesn't take too many $400-$500 backhoe rental days to justify the added cost.

BTW.... I had a backhoe and a post hole digger. I sold the PHD and still have the backhoe.

Well, as it turns out we bought our new tractor today. We went with the B7510 HSDTR w/ loader for $13,100 and added a 9" auger for $800 (normal price $1150). Hoping we did ok. As far as the hoe, they told us not a good idea to try and use it on any tractor where it doesn't come standard. For what we need we will probably just rent a hoe set up for a weekend and that should do us. The only other thing I was going to use it for was planting larger trees so I guess I'll have to get creative on that one. I don't think the loader is going dig the size holes I need. Thanks again, guys, for all your help. I'll let you know how it goes once we start using it.

Tammy
