 Kubota struggling uphill

Hello-

I have a B7800 that is about 4 years old. This summer will be my 3rd season with it. It has been in the garage all winter, with a full tank of Diesel. Yesterday I took it out for the first time this season. It started right up, cranked it up to the 2600-2700 RPM for the Belly mower PTO and started mowing Smile It was doing fine, until about 1/2 hour later it would come to a crawl going uphill!! The hill is not very steep, smooth terrain and all grass. I would have to slow Waaaaay down just to keep the RPM up for mowing. I also noticed a lot of exhaust coming out like if I had just started it. Not white but grey smoke, the engine was really struggling but never stalled. Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks

Andrew

Andrew, I probably should let Art give the Kubota advice, but I think your problem is fuel starvation. Check the seddiment bowl under the fuel tank for dirt or water, clean it first then go to your kubota dealer for new fuel filters. Check your owners manual, it will tell you how to do the seddiment bowl and how to remove the old filters and install the new ones, and how to bleed the fuel system when you are done. I think that will put you back to mowing in a little bit. Best of luck. Frank.

Frank-

Thank you. Good point, maybe some sediment is plugging up the filter and slowing down the flow. That would make sense. I will check it out. Thank you

Frank, somethings are always the same! Doesn't make to much difference for diagnostics as they are all the same to a degree!

Thank you. I looked in the owner's manual for a sediment bowl but did not find any information on it. What does it look like? The fuel filter looks a bit dirty so I will take it off and clean it then bleed the system.

I'd replace all the fuel for several reasons: age, condensation, and organisms that live in the sediment bowl that looks like thick snot which plugs the filter. Let it sit there too long it will eventually turn white and crusty. Also look into the air intak for insect or rodent populations which may restricting the air passage.

I had about the same issue a couple of years ago, turned out to be a wasp in my fuel tank. As the fuel drained it sucked it over the outlet and the tractor would run out of fuel. Let it sit and it would run again for a few minutes. Found out it was in the tank by opening the fuel cutoff with filter off. kt
