 B7200 HST weird noise

I have a really strange noise when i go fwd or reverse above a certain speed. Slow gear you dont hear it till it maxes out speed. The noise sounds like a ufo, worrble. really strange. Hard to explain how it sounds. Its a high pitch hum that worrbles. Everything works fiune on the tractor but this sound that just started. Any ideas?
Also when i disengage the front drive and just use rear wheel drive it gets louder

I'd check the driveshaft coupler for the front as well as the drives. It's very hard to say what might be wrong with the info given but the problem does have to be in the drives.

Im wondering if it could be a pump, does the drives run on a fluid pump? could low fluid level or air in the pump cause this fluttery whine.

I thought you would have been beyond the fluid levels but if the sound was coming from the transmision then I'd be checking the fluid levels first and second changing the fluid with Super UDT and installing a new Kubota filter.

It is hard to tell what the problem might be from the description you gave.

 B7200 HST weird noise

madcat ~

I was waiting to hear what you found before commenting. I too have a few older B_200 series oranges. One of the strangest noises that I had ever encountered was that of the front propeller shaft bearing disintegrating as I drove.

Basically if you were to look at the profile of the tractor, one would see a shaft tube coming downwards from the mid section of the tractor that would connect thru a boot to the aft side of the front differential. At this point, there is a removable housing that houses a u-joint. This is where the noise would be originating, and traveling up the tube and resonating into the center of the tractor.

Over time, moisture would develop in the tube, and ultimately travel downward straight into the bearing assembly. In time, the bearing would dry out, rust, and breakdown. If this ever happens, plan on replacing the full bearing set in this housing, and the two boots for the driveshaft tube. Small money seeings how you would have the entire shaft dropped anyway. That drove me bananas for a bit until I figured out where it was coming from! I had that happen twice, one time on both of my 5200's since I bought them in 1987. It happened now about 9 years ago, so I really cannot complain.
