Size of Rear Blade for B7800

I'm purchasing a B7800HSD. The dealer has recommended a 72" rear blade while the Kubota rear blade is only 60". I plan to use the blade for snow removal as well as grading my driveway. What are the pros and cons to the 2 lengths?

Mostly you have to think about the angle and the tractor weight.

If the blade is too wide and heavy, it tends to angle the tractor off course rather than angling the material to the side.

If the blade is too narrow it won't cover the tracks of your tractor when angled to the max.

My tractor is very similar to yours in weight and horsepower and it handles a 6 foot rear blade quite well.

Keep in mind, we are not talking about a "bare" tractor here. You must have an FEL or front weights and significant rear ballast over and above the rear blade itself to get proper performance out of a 1700 pound tractor equipped with any rear blade.

Thanks for your input.
The tractor will have a FEL for counter balance.

I have a B3030 and when I bought it I also got a Landpride 60" rear blade. It worked fine until the first snowfall. I found out then that it would not push the snow far enough outside of the rear wheels when angled. I traded it back in on a 72" and it works great. Your B7800 will have no problem with a 72" RB. Good luck.

We use a 72" blade at times. No porblem for a rear angling blade. For a box blade, I would stick to a 60". It's wide enough to do what you need, but won't be too much to pull.
