 Running biodiesel in a B7800

Has anyone had problems running biodiesel in their Kubotas? I'm planning on running some through mine, but my concern is deterioration of the fuel lines - they can't be rubber fuel lines, they need to be synthetic.

Thanks!

I haven't had any personal experience with biodiesel, but I have considered running it in my Kubota. According to my own research properly manufactured biodiesel is funtionally equivalent to petro diesel and is 100% compatible with any diesel engine and fuel system. I haven't come across anything about incompatibility with natural rubber fuel lines. The best bet is to find a retailer and buy it like ordinary pump fuel vs. attempting to make it at home. This provides some level of confidence about proper formulation.

Here's a link to a resource for biodiesel retailers.

One very important note if making your own bio-diesel. Be very sure you have check the ph of your final product. If you do not there a very good chance of corrosion.

I thought this was a joke but there's quite a bit of good information on the bio willie website. Plus I learned about transesterification. I think it's related to transmogrification. Smile

I am just running a first tank of bio in my B2710. For now at least the smell is better, though I must say that the engine puts out very little odor to begin with. All the recently made Kubotas and JD's in this neighborhood use 100% bio without trouble. No one that switched would go back. There were some older JD's that had hose failure after a year, but when replaced with newer material (Viton, I think it is), no further problem. You might also want to keep an eye on your filtration. It seems that glogged fuel filters are a potential problem since the bio will dissolve and clean out any residual deposits presently in your fuel system, and place them in your filter. In our hot climate gelling is no problem, but long storage needs bacterial inhibitors.

The bio is not so good for starting fires. One guy here tried sprinkling some on a slow starting fire and put it out.

your Tractor will LOVE YOU.
100% reduction in Sulfur
20 - 80% reduction in all other polutants.
engine runs quieter (it is a natural lube)
flash point is much higher, close to impossible to
accidentally get lit. but well within diesel range.

two items, neither really bad.
1. it will clean your fuel system, look to replace your fuel filter early.
2. very old style fuel lines may leak, just go to any auto supply shop and get a few feet and replace them.

cheers!

Are you heating your waste veggie oil, or just running it straight?

BioDiesel is NOT waste veggy oil.
it is made from many organic oils, including, if you are careful, used Donkin Donut Oil. But it is NOT veggy oil!
