Still looking at the B2150. The tractor is very clean, and I've pretty much made up my mind to buy it. I'm a litle concerned about some "grabbing" or vibration on the steering wheel when turning. The dealer says its pretty normal, nothing to worry about. The tractor turns fine, and rides smooth through the turn. It's just as if someone else had a hand on the wheel , not quite working with me. Any thoughts?

If you were on any surface that offered much in the way of traction, and the machine was in 4WD the front end would be fighting a bit in anything but the mildest of corners.

If in doubt go back and try it again with the machine in 2WD.

Best of luck.

If it still vibrates in 2wd, the steering cylinder seals could be a little worn, causing pressure compensation in the steering circuit. Not a big deal, how may hours are on the machine? Does it vibrate with the steering wheel turned hard either way? There is also a possibilty that air is entering the system somewhere.

Yeah, it vibrates in 2wd. Even while turning with the tractor sitting still. 980 hours on the machine. it's not like it keeps vibrating, more of a "grabbing" feeling when turning the wheel.

Sounds like pressure compensation in the steering circuit. Check for fluid leaks at the steering valve or cylinder. The vibration is probably the circuit compensating for pressure loss, whether air or bleed-by in the cylinder, or less likely in the valve. Again, not a huge deal, but something you may want to get taken care of.

When my hydraulic filter gets clogged, the steering becomes irregular and jerky. (i.e. lack of flow or irregular flow is the cause). A new filter makes it go away. Was told a filter should be changed every 100-200 hours.

Thanks Guys. The dealer is going to replace engine oil and hydraulic fluid and filters. I couldn't find any leaks. Not even any seepage. Sounds like the problem will likely go away when they do the service.
