Need Help. Kubota 7800 or Kioti CK20

I am ready to buy a CUT and need some input into my decision. I have narrowed it down to two models, but not having very much experience with tractors, especially new CU tractors, I thought I would turn to the industry experts: The end users……

I have a log home on 5 acres. It is all rolling pasture type surrounded by woods. All of this acreage (minus house) must be mowed. I also have about 700' of gravel driveway to maintain. I was taking care of this with a 1973 Ford 4000 tractor, 6' bush hog, and small Murray mower/tractor. The Ford was just way too big for the task at hand and I wanted to upgrade, so I sold my tractor and bush hog yesterday. I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket….

With the help of this site, I have narrowed my search down to either a Kubota 7800, 4WD, HST or a Kioti CK30, 4x4, HST or GST. I will purchase a 3 pt. 72" finish mower and a 60" rotary cutter (aka bushhog) with one of these tractors. I want to use the finish mower for most of the land but want to have the bushhog in case I get behind mowing and the grass gets too long for the finish rig.

With all of this said, which of these tractor should I buy. My budget is $15K and I have quotes to where I can get either tractor and both mowers for under this amount (within $200 of each other). I have ridden the 7800 and it seems to be a fine tractor. I plan to go and ride the Kioti this week, but from all I have read here, I don't think I will be disappointed in the Kioti.

I know that for the money I get more creature comforts (cruise control, telescoping 3 pt links, cup holder, and around 2 more PTO hp) with the Kioti. It is also heavier than the Kubota but the wheel base and width of the tractors are about the same. Here is the deal, the Kubota dealer is here in the town I work in so any warranty/service work that I can not do at home is very convenient to get done. The Kioti dealer is 2 hrs away. Should this influence my decision????

Which tractor should I buy? Some quick input would be most grateful!!!

Thanks in advance!

Need Help. Kubota 7800 or Kioti CK20

I just recently bought a brand new b7800, la 402 fel and 60" mmm and I am absolutle happy with it. it seems to be built well, tight tolerances, engine sounds smooth and the loader works great (are you getting a loader with yours?). i haven't heard of the other brand you were looking at, but i looked at and test drove comparable tractors (john deere, new holland, cub cadet) and the kubota was the best in my opinion.

I have only had one service call on a CK and was because a gentleman turned his fuel off and forgot to turn it back on.

The Kubota dealer being closer would be more convienient.
Kubota makes a nice machine.
What I like about the Kioti CK is the extra features included in the price (you already mentioned the cruise, extendable lower link arms) also Foldable ROPS, position control, 50 Amp alternator.
Tuff chioce, I wish you luck..

Go with the Kubota but in stead of a finishing mower go with a deck. with the deck u could leave the deck on when uyou use the bus hog because you could lock the deck up and still use the 3 point hitch with out moving the deck up and down.

Thanks for all the advice. I am still unsure which machine to purchase. I hope to go and drive the CK30 this week and then make a decision.

Right now I am not going to get a loader, but will probably purchase one later on.....

I will also consider the MMM instead of the 3 pt. mower. I just figured that with the layout of my property, the 3 pt would be more handy....

Again thanks for the replies....

Jamie

Need Help. Kubota 7800 or Kioti CK20

I faced the same decision when I was purchasing a couple years ago. I eneded up with the 7800 for a few reasons:

The CK30 wasn't available yet, only the CK20.
The Kubota dealer was much better to work with since I had a trade. The Kioti dealer was nothing short of an *$$, and I wouldn't want to deal with them for the life if the machine.

The CFO (wife) was sold on the Kioti. The CK's are very nice machines with some of the features you don't get with the 7800, most importantly, the position control on the 3-pt. This and the weight are the only two functional differences we could find. The lighter Kubota turned out to be a significant plus. It's easier to trailer, easier on the lawn when turning, and gives the tractor a better power/weight ratio.

We also use a RFM instead of a deck. We sold the deck off the previous tractor and wouldn't go back to one. The RFM is easier to deal with and does a great job cutting the lawn.

We have made some improvements to the 7800 we have, icluding a position indicator on the 3-pt to compensate for the lack of position control. We love the Kubota, and have never second guessed not waiting for the Kioti. It's been a great macchine for us.

Make sure you drive them both, and get to know the dealers. Two hours away is a little tough, but the quality of the dealership is really important for a major purchase of this kind. I think you would be happy with either machine.
