Open Center hydraulic control valve question

First, let me again thank beagle for his help w/control valves. Now here is another question regarding open-center valves. I want to control a double-action cylinder and have the cylinder maintain it's load position when the control valve lever is in center detent position. I hope I'm wording that right. Here is an example: When pulling the valve handle to raise a blade, etc., I want that object to remain raised when I let the handle go. Sorry for being so ignorant concerning those matters. Here is another question for BX1500 owners: On right hand fender are controls for lift, range, & 4WD. There is a spare slot w/hyd. cylinder emblems. Wondering if it is possible to mount a remote control valve under fender and run the lever through fender. Thanks always, guys.

Open Center hydraulic control valve question

The open slot in the fender... I've already been down that road. A while back I wanted to add a ctrl valve for tiltable top link. From what I understand, the open slot is not used in the U.S., rather overseas. I don't know why it isn't available here, maybe one of the dealers knows more. I don't see any reason why you couldn't fab up a ctrl lever that utilized the open slot though. There is a rear remote add-on kit available from Kubota for the BX, but the valve clamps onto the ROPS and looks a little hokey.

BX7322 Valve Kit Rear Remote
BX7323 Hose Kit (with loader)
BX7324 Hose Kit (without loader)

Open Center hydraulic control valve question

propilot, a 4-way spool valve with load checks for the work ports will do what you are asking for your blade control. In the nuetral position, an open center valve allows flow from the pump to the reservoir, the load checks hold the load on the work ports. There could be some minor leak-down, but that is common.

Open Center refers to the type of inlet section and the flow from the pump to the reservoir in the nuetral position.

For fixed displacement pumps, which is used on most CUTS, you need an open center valve so you don't dead-head the pump. For systems with variable displacement pumps, some Chinese brands have these, you would use a closed center valve.

Regards
