 Kubota B7500 vs. JD 4115

I am looking at a used 2003 Kubota B7500 HSD with 110 hours and about 1 1/2 years left on factory warranty and with a loader, a used Woods 42" mower and a new Woods 60" landscape rake for a total of $12,625 (no tax). I also looked at a new JD 4115 with JD loader only for about $17,000. Is this a no-brainer for the Kubota? I am a widow and have about 11 acres, part in pasture (weeds) and part in timber with lots of pine cones on the ground and rocks galore.

You guys are familier with both the Kubota and the JD. Which would you buy or should a 70 year old widow even consider buying such a machine?

Thanks

Go for the Kubota but make sure they didn't stick some worn out woods junk on the rear end!!

I might add there is some room downward in the quoted price for the Kubota, but in any event it is a superior machine in my humble opinion!

 Kubota B7500 vs. JD 4115

Thanks for your advice Archdean. I have confidence in the dealer. They also have a used 4100 JD 4X4 with an enclosed cab with heater, fan, and radio with headlights on top and turn signals and removable hard side doors and a front angle blade. It has about 1100 miles on engine but they are mostly highway miles. According to the dealer, the guy couldn't get a drivers license, so he used his JD for transportation and to do some driveway clearing. With a new Woods front loader and new landscape rake, the package is priced at $11,525. Would this be better/worse than that used B7500 Kubota?

The 4100 is closer to the same features as the B7500.

The 4115 is longer, heavier and has more power and is more comparable to the B2710/2910/7800.

A well cared for Yanmar engine with 1100 hours should run many more years. I would make real sure that the after market loader will not interfere with a mid mount mower... assuming that is where you want the mower mounted.

If you haven't done so already; I strongly suggest a thorough test demo of each machine head to head. They are not comparable machines but you may find that the Kubota meets your needs and save a few bucks. On the other hand, you may find that the Deere 4115 ergonmomics are much more to your liking especially with respect to pedal postion and operator space in the seat area. Both are very nice machines but you should operate and test each out very thoroughly BEFORE you buy. Go with the machine that suits your liking the best.

I would more interested in the story of the guy who used his 4100 to get around , and for the reason why he couldnt get a license especially in Montana - do you even need a drivers license there? I cant imagine top speed 12.5 mph
getting around like that...Smile

Well, Duc, you actually do need a driver's license in Montana...not only that, we also have a speed limit, can you believe it?

As for the guy who drives a tractor instead of a car, he traded the JD 4100 in on a new Kubota with cab in like configuration and plans to go from Hamilton, MT, to Georgetown Lake which is about 50 miles from Hamilton. How'd you like to be behind him on a winding, two-lane road for 50 miles?

Thanks to all of you for you help and advice. I certainly will take it into consideration and will let you know which one I choose.

Mamabear,

I hope I didnt offend you about the comment of needing a license in MT - I thought in some areas the speed limit is unlimited? Great story no less, good luck with the choice

Duc
