I am currently researching PTO tillers for my BX. There are two Kubota dealers approximately equidistant from me that I intend to get quotes from, but I would like to go into it knowing what a good price would be for the 37" Kubota B40C PTO tiller. I am also considering aftermarket models of 42" or less width which I already have some quotes on. Anyone with first-hand knowledge please chime in!

For Kubota to put there name on it says a lot for a tiller. There will always be lower priced units and the Kubota retails for $1642. ....

I'm thinking of a tiller for my BX2200 also. Just garden and lawn prep on 4 acres of residential land. Don't understand a lot about them yet. What's the basic difference/advantage of gear driven vs chain driven? I don't quite understand what they mean by "#4 with clutch" under the PTO included column of the CMM Rotary tiller website. Any advise you might offer is greatly appreciated. ....

PTO shafts are rated according to their load carrying capacity. The Italian MFG's have standard sizes from 1-10.The #4 has a rating of standard working load of 40 HP when the shaft is used at 540 rpm's. To be exact these shafts have torque ratings. HP is a derivative of torque and speed of motion, so the HP capacity of the PTO shaft is increased by increasing the RPM's. ....

I checked out the CCM tillers and they look good. However, the MR-120's and MR-145"s are out of stock. Next production run will have price increase of 10% plus higher shipping costs. They still have MR-100's with 34" width vs the MR-120's 42" width. Do you think I would be disappointed getting the smaller tiller. I have bx-2200 and five acres of land. Use would be for 3000 sq ft garden plus tilling up old farm grass to put in a decent lawn - about 2 acres worth. ....
