I got a price quote of $17,695 for a 2910 w/ LA402 loader. I saw flyboy posted a quote he got for the same tractor with the mmm for $18,200. Seeing that the mmm is at least a 2k option I don't think I got a good quote. The dealer I got my quote from is from Dickinson Equipment located in Fredericksburg VA. What do you think about the quote and does anyone have any experence with Dickinson Equipment?

Also, is it not unreasonable to try and negoiate with dealers... I'm also looking at getting at the same time a Woods 6' rear blade $375, Bushhog 5' tiller $1695, 18" auger post hole digger $935, tooth bar $285, 3pt receiver $190, and a trailer(7x16) $1895.

Thanks - foghorn

Foghorn,

Have you considered the B7800? I got mine with LA402 loader, and 72"MMM for $16,925. I did not price the 2910, but looking at the brochures, it appears the only extras you get for the additional 2K or so is a better seat, tilt wheel, and telescoping links on the 3pt hitch.
Are these truly the only difference in these two machines? If so, the B7800 seems to me to be a better bargain.

Jelliott,

There isn't 2k difference between the 7800 and 2910 here in my area. I think those creature comforts and the adjustable arm is worth the difference though. I was initially going to go with the 2710 but for 1K more I figured the extra hp and creature comforts was worth it.

BTW - How much grass are you cutting and is it a finished?

When dealing with dealers, not just tractors but also cars and trucks. How about asking for a free 50 hour service or the first 3000 mile oil change. Find a value for that and get them to throw it in. It would be good for you and the tractor. I would rather do that then take off the 300 dollar price for my customer. It does everyone good!

Thanks Art for that advise! BTW, I just called another dealer in the area and they want $1000 more then the dealer I got the first quote from. I'd like to know what your thought is on NOT buying a tractor from a local dealer?

Foghorn,

I'm not cutting a dang bit of grass yet! We have recently completed building a new home on some property that we bought several years ago, sowed the grass about a month ago, and it's almost time to make the first cutting. I will have around 4 - 5 acres of finish mowing, and another 6 - 8 acres of bushhogging on the hill where the house is located (I've got a JD2240 & 7' bushhog for bushhogging). Once we get settled in, I may change the ratio of bushhogging to finish mowing, probably depends on how well the B7800 works as a lawnmower.

Jim

I live in California and purchase a B2910 from North Carolina last October. Paid $17,500 including shipping for a B2910 with loader, Loader teeth,R4 tires, and a First Choice Heaviest 5' box scraper. They saved me over $3,000 for what my local dealer wanted. Kubota is good quality and I have had no problems with it to date. I perform all my own maintenance anyway, so I do not expect to be taking it to the local dealer.
