Purchasing tractor from out of state?

I am wondering if anyone has ever purchased a tractor from a dealer out of state instead of your local dealer. I have found a dealer who will save me a $1000.00 plus no sales tax if I buy it from them. They will deliver it all set up and ready to go right to my house . The only question I have is what if I need service on the tractor or warranty work or even maintenance work will I be able to have my local dealer work on it.

Purchasing tractor from out of state?

There are many people who purchase tractors from dealers they have never seen nor met in person. The fact of needing service for your equipment at a later date is a good concern. Under warrantee the dealer does have to service your tractor. Depending on his policy, written or not you will probably be last on his list for service.
He will take nearly as good of you as a person that is a purchasing customer as he will hope to get your buisness in the future. You might let him know of your intentions and see if he can come close enough for you to feel comfortable to make the purchase with him I know he would appreciate it if you would let him know.

Purchasing tractor from out of state?

I purchased a tractor from WAY out of state and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. Modern Equipment(Tractorsmart.com) in TN beat my local dealer(who would not budge) by $3000. That included delivery and was without sales tax. I still have regular contact with my dealer in TN, and purchase EVERYTHING that I need from him. He cuts me a break on price and shipping, and still beats my local dealer. If you, like I was, are locked in by only 1 dealer that is close.....then they have you by the "cajones" and can sell them for more, so I looked elsewhere. A lot also depends on if you can do some minor work and required maintenance yourself. If you choose to take your tractor into your local dealer everytime you need something, then your best bet is to spend the extra thousand and enjoy his service. Now, for the statement that he won't do any warranty work if you don't buy it from him is a crock. If he does do that, I'm sure Kubota Corporate would love to hear about his crappy business practices. Hell, I didn't buy my Ford pickup from my local dealer, but he happily does warranty work.....what's the difference??? If you are still looking for some more info on the subject and would like to hear about my experience, let me know. I can surely steer you in the right direction and you can make a better, informed decision.

Just another informed tractor purchaser.

Kubota L3710 w/LA681 loader, Eagle line 80" box blade, and lots of other goodies.

Purchasing tractor from out of state?

I need to make a correction. I made the statement that the dealer would not do warranty work. The previous poster did not say that, I made a mistake in reading his post. I apologize for that error. Along the same line though, if the local dealer gives you crappy service because you decided to better utilize your hard earned money with another dealers tractor, I would still think Kubota Corporate would frown down upon him. Remember, you ALWAYS have to do what is best for you, not what is best for others. I spent many months seeking the Kubota unit that I currently possess, and I am sure you will here from countless others on this board that research and legwork are a tractor buyers best friend. When I bought my L3710 two years ago, I threw myself upon the mercy of this board and asked for help......and I came away feeling good about my eventual purchase and thanked everyone on here for all the insight that they had provided. Anyway, I have rambled long enough. Like I said earlier, if you would like the details of my out of state purchase, just let me know.
