 Price check on new L2500

My local dealer quoted $13,800 for a new L2500 w/LB400 loader. Good deal? I was there looking for a older, larger, used 2wd tractor/loader (Ford 4000, IH 350U), but they pushed this deal hard, for they said it's their last one, and they want to clear it. I have 83+ acres to maintain, and a lot of it is soupy. I need to bushog ~30 acres, skid timber, clear stream channel blockages, move earth & snow, etc. I know these little machines are tough for their size, but I don't think it's enough machine for my needs. It'll only effectively pull a 4' brushog, and the gross weight isn't that much, thereby limiting lfting and pulling capacities. I'd hate to spend the money and come up short. Please help me out. Thanks.

With that much soupy and irregular terrain I'd go for the full size tractor. I have both myself, and for that kind of money you can get a dandy in a used farm utility tractor...Your money buys lots more in the Ag market than in the compact market anyway. As far as the reliability and toughness and even the power, the compact could do everything except the heavy work just fine. But it would either scare you or beat you to death doing it. On uneven ground the compact is very bouncy and unstable compared with Ag tractors. Tell you what: go back to the dealer and take the compact and a small Ag tractor out back. I figure out back is where they are bound to have either some plowed ground or maybe 50 yards of heavily rutted ground where they turn their trailers around. Now drive both tractors across that rough ground at a pretty good clip and you'll see what I mean. It's all just my opinion, so let me know what you think.

The price is fair. (I just bought the same model for that price after a lot of searching) That was for the 4wd right? FYI it will take a 5ft bush hog unless your going through some really heavy stuff and then I would just cut a little higher. I have a 5ft box blade that it pulls just fine and 5ft seems to be the right implement size for this tractor but I have to agree with the last post. If you have 30 acres to bushhog you need a bigger tractor. I'd want something that would take a 7ft bushhog and you will notice you do get a lot more tractor for the buck if you go to a full size vs a compact.
