 Buying a Kubota L2800 4wd/HST w/loader Today

I'm in Portland, Oregon area and buying a new Kubota L2800 4wd/HST w/loader. The price I have is $15,888, and a higher end rotary cutter for $1079. Does this seem to be a fair price? I will add the dual element air cleaner for $15. I'm also getting a farm blade from another source and eventually want to add a tiller and a chipper.

I have 7.25 acres with about 2.5 acres in Doug fir trees and the rest in pasture, no animals yet and a long rutted driveway. We enjoy organic fresh vegitables and have chickens but will probably do more with the property as this tractor will sure help out!

So while I'm at the dealer today, what should I consider adding to this? Is the worklight worth it or should I just add my own? I'm having them add (beet juice?) in the tires for extra weight. You're input is greatly appreciated.

What tires are you getting? I live about 30 miles west of Portland and found that R4 industrial tires didn't work well in the soil here. Worklights are useful and a lot of guys have installed them. What sort of stuff do you need to chip? With that power you likely won't do much better than chipping 4" material or so. That may work for you. I had a 6" pto chipper and upgraded to a 12" Bandit for working in the doug firs around here.

 Buying a Kubota L2800 4wd/HST w/loader Today

I pulled the trigger on the L2900 today.
I also had them install the Ag tires, upgraded 3 PT stabilizer, dual element air cleaner. I'm glad I stepped up to the L series rather than settle on a Mahindra or a B series Kubota.

All I have here to chip is fir, hazelnut and a little maple - no Oak. I burn anything over 3" so I hope that this power is OK. I know it's a little lower than it should be for effortless chipping but I had to draw the line somewhere. I've heard that the chinese 6" chippers for about $1,700 or so are OK. Any recommendations? I hope to be able to swing that in a month or two. A 3 or $4K chipper is not going to happen I only am chipping to keep from burning and to make mulch for the landscaping projects that I can do now that I have a real tractor.

Only finish mowing will be done with the 20 HP Honda Lawn tractor now...

It will be delivered late Monday or Tuesday.

What are people using to store Diesel other than 5 gal jugs? I will check the forum out for maint. stuff now...

I had a Jinma but it didn't do the big stuff. We have a lot of Nobles and they make lousy firewood so I wanted to chip them. It's a lot of chipper for the money but something with a hydraulic feed is a lot easier to use. Spend some time reading in the "wood chippers 3PH" forum for many posts about Jinma chippers. The link below is to a review I wrote about it.

I keep my diesel in 6 gallon cans. The tractor is pretty thrifty at less than 1 gallon/hour so four cans is adequate. The empties get strapped in the bed of the truck and filled when I fill up.

Good choice Hilly2. Looks like you got a pretty good price too. I just upgraded from a BX2230 to an L3400DT (thats the gear model) for my larger property. It should be delivered in a week or so. (excited jitters)

The L2900 was just delivered today. I only had 40 minutes to scrape the driveway with the awesome loader to fill a few pot holes. I love this tractor. It feels solid! I still need a farm blade. I think I'll go with a 7 foot blade. I need to figure out how to posy a picture..
