Hi
I am a tractor newbie looking for a small tractor for general landscaping type work, digging out of a foundation hole for a garage and some driveway work on my house. I have boiled my search down to either the subcompact tractors from Kubota (the BX23), or Massey Ferguson (the GC2310), or the Kioti CK20. After spending some considerable time looking I think the CK20 and the BX23 are the ones I am leaning towards. Wondering if anybody has useful comments and maybe pricing on either tractor (CK20 with a backhoe preferably) I am located in MA but would probably buy in NH- Thanks

The BX23 and the CK line are very different tractors. The BX is a sub-compact, the CK is a compact. Make sure you compare the differences in wheelbases, weight, and matching implements. The CK line is actually a heavier machine than the Kubota B series.

Both are VERY nice machines. ....

Hi - thanks for the reply. I was comparing the three tractors mostly on price and the Kioti was in the running mostly because it has higher capabilities for not much more
money than the BX23 or the GC2310. If it was the same amount of money as the compact tractors from JD, Kubota, Massey etc. then I would probably not be looking at it. I just went to a dealer in N.H. this morning who is a Massey/Kioti dealer and he claims he wont be able to get any Kiotis for months so it may be a moot point since I am looking to buy before that. ....

Hi, like you, I've been looking to buy my first tractor to try make a little extra income. I looked at the BX23 and the CK20 also. Now out here on the west coast I know prices are different. I went to my local Kubota dealer, the base price for the BX23 is $16,766.45, adding a "top/tilt kit, gearmore box scraper and rotary mower brought the total to $21,548.83! I think I'll buy the Kioti, with the FEL and all the same implements, minus the back hoe, the total came to $15,235.98! The back hoe would add another $5,000.00 and I believe the Kioti will be a better machine. ....

Dirtman: make a few more calls. There are a lot of BX23's out there now and you shouldn't have to pay full list price.

I think you can trim $2k off the base price and $3K off the package if you spend some time on the phone. ....

That's in line with my cost as well: $18,400 including tax, for a BX23, 60" MMM and Woods Tiller ....

Thanks for all the replies - I just received delivery of my new BX23 today. Ended up paying $16,400 with bar tires, hi-amp alternator, 12in hoe bucket, 50hour kit, ATI toothbar, and delivery. I looked around quite a bit and this was a little bit higher than the best quote I had but it was from the closest dealer - and I liked them the best. I have already dug up a couple of stumps in my backyard - this thing is awesome! ....

JD, What is a 50 hour kit?
My bx23 developed a hydro leak in one or more of the 4 FEL connections. It's going to the shop. I miss it already. ....

50 hour kit is all the filters and fluids I need to do the 50 hour service. I got a container of engine oil and a 5 gallon pail of Super UDT Hydraulic fluid, oil filter, hydraulic oil filter, fuel filters, etc. I knew from reading other posters I would need it so I figured I would get it thrown in with the cost of the tractor and save myself the trouble of having to get all the stuff later. ....
