What oil is everyone usin with a LK3054?
I can't seem to find 10w-30 with the rating listed in the owners manual. Are these possibly outdated ratings?

Thanks.
Barry

Barry,
Kioti is not known for having much of an owners manual.
The manual for my DK 35 calls for API service CC or CD
SAE 15W-40 motor oil.
I currently run Rotella T synthetic oil with API service CH-4/SL 5W-40 motor oil.

Sir;
We use Dello. Rotella is a fine oil. Moble Delvac is another option.
I do not recomend the use of oils such as Quaker State, Havilene, or any other oil that is sutible for a gasoline engine.
The most important thing to do is to CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER. Be sure to change the hydraulic oil also. The hydraulic filter is to be cleaned, not replaced as the engine oil filter is.
Please use a belt type filter wrench on the hydraulic filter, and place the belt as close to the top of the filter as possible. Note that the "nut" on the filter case IS NOT to put a wrench on... It will break the filter case.
Use a high quality hydraulic oil such as John Deere 303 for the hydraulic / transmission. We DO NOT purchase ANY lubricants from a mass merchant. Go get the real stuff, it will cost a few pennys more, but in the long run you are dollars ahead.
ALL lubricants will need to be changed at the first 50 hours of use. This is critical. Thereafter - change the engine oil every 50 hours and the hydraulic every 350 hours. Change the antifreeze yearly.
If you have a front end loader on the machine .... be sure to give all pivot pins a shot of grease about every 4 hours uf use....Grease is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Parts are not.
I hope that I have helped.

Oils are very confusing. The recommendations posted are all excellent to follow. I use Rotella T 15-40 for my John Deere 4100 diesel. Ask your dealer if you can sub that for the 10-30 and still protect your warrentee.

Going back to the origional question.
Yes CC and CD are old designations. CD was replaced by CF which you will find listed.

Here is somewhat of an overview:
Mobil's website:
"Here is a short description of the diesel engine categories, starting with the most current.
CH-4 is a proposed category at this time, which we anticipate being finalized during the first half of 1999. CH-4 is being developed to address engine design changes required to meet new 1998 EPA emission standards.
CG-4 was developed for oils used in 1994 and later, low-emission, high-speed, four-stroke cycle diesel engines. It is also typically used for diesel engines using low-sulfur diesel fuel. Newer engines that are used on-highway or off-highway applications may call for CG-4 quality oils. One of the main advances in CG-4 versus previous quality levels is the ability of the oil to handle high levels of soot that is generated by some of these low-emission engines.
CF-4 was established in 1991 to specify oil quality for severe- duty, low-emission, four-stroke diesel engines produced in 1991 or later. Oils meeting this category offered improved control of oil consumption and piston deposits versus previous quality levels. CF-4 has essentially replaced the CE quality rating.
CF-2 was established at the same time to specify oil quality for severe duty two-stroke diesel engines. CF-2 has essentially replaced CD II.
CF was established for service typical of off-road, heavy-duty diesel engines and engines operating on higher sulfur fuels. The CF quality level essentially replaced the CD level.
CE was established in 1988 to specify oils for severe-duty diesel engines with turbochargers. This rating is essentially obsolete and oils meeting CF-4 are now used in applications calling for CE oils."

be careful of what you buy at TSC. the mass merchants do not have the same quality lubricants as what you get from a real oil consighnee. If you dont agree with what I'm saying just put in the cheep hydraulic oil, run it for a few hours, then drain it. It will scare the socks off of you. GET THE GOOD STUFF .... its cheaper in the long run.
