LB1914 Brake and Lowering Speed Knob

Bought the tractor at auction; manufactured in 1996 but apparently not sold until 1999 and then used very little. Everything woking fine except the right brake is sticking. I removed the cotter pin from the linkage and confirmed that the trouble is in the housing, and not with the linkage. Anyone have any suggestions. Also, the Lowering Speed Knob won't turn. Thanks.

LB1914 Brake and Lowering Speed Knob

There is an old thread in the archives about a flow control valve that was stuck but I don't recall the solution. Most are very similar to a water faucet so if it's like my Ford I wouldn't expect too big a deal freeing it up. I'd probably take it apart rather than trying to force it too much, but I do have a manual that gives me disassembly procedures.

From my manual, the good news is that if the brakes are like my Ford, they can be serviced without removing the axle housing. It'd be good to have a manual though and a new gasket probably would be required at minimum. When the linkage was disconnected, I wonder if you tried to move the actuating lever. I think there should be a feeling that it's free but working against return springs. Kioti brakes may be different than mine though.

I think the unit had just been sitting too long; after a little use (pumping brake and twisting a little mor on the lowering knob), everything started working OK.
