Price differences between west coast and eastern dealers

Greetings,

Why is there such a huge difference between the west coast and the eastern dealers.

For the same price as a basic tractor and loader here in Northern California, the eastern dealers offer tractor, loader, multiple attachments, and a trailer. Anybody have the inside scoop??
Thanks,
Chris

I would kindly suggest to you that there are several reasons. #1 shipping costs. Many companies are based out of the east. #2 the laws and policies of a more left leaning population make unfriendly requirements out of tractors such as special exhaust systems, emissions, and warranty requirements and labeling that is not required in the rest of the U.S. In this case you can blame the government. #3 Cost of living is higher. See #2. #4 Dealer structures and locations may be so that the competition is reduced.

Does'nt really make sense, seeing as they come from Korea does it?

Many factors could be coming into play here. Cost of doing business, market size, competition, and most of all "what the market will bear"as far as prices go.

It's the same scenario though with new and used prices on CUTs or Ag-tractors in different regions of the country. Some sell for more here than there, always have always will!!

I think 2 or 3 of our friends would argue with you about good pricing in the north east. I lived in the north east and track some of the quotes posted from the area and I am sure they have as much trouble as you getting a good price.
Some of this is the cost of doing business, how much does the lot cost. The other problem is affluence, why work at price when the yacht set plunk the money down at list price.
A lot of the tractors are assembled in GA and therefore we might see better pricing here, but we still have to shop around. In general a deal out in the corn field in the county will have better pricing than downtown.
