Any JD/Yanmar techies out there that know the precise difference between the engines in these models. They look to be the same engine. The 4400 had a larger one but the 10 series seems to have taken the 4300 engine. I want to know what makes the 4410 have the higher HP. Is it just the fuel pressure setting on the pump? I asked the dealer and all I got was "blah blah EPA, blah blah $10,000 fine, Blah blah we don't even get into the injection pump or know anything about it".

The 4400/4410 is equipped with the Yanmar TNE88 which displaces 100.2 cubic inches, 35 hp, & 64.8 ft./lb. torque. . The 4300/4310 is equipped with the Yanmar TNE84 which displaces 91.3 cubic inches, 32 hp, & 57.9 ft./lbs. torque. Roughly a 10% difference in displacement, torque & HP. On a new machine you basicly pay approx. $1500 for 3 hp and 6.9 ft./lbs. torque. That extra bit of umph can pay off in situations requiring a bit more power such as heavy brush cutting or running a bit larger generator. For the money spent, the 4300/4310 is the value tractor. Just my 2 cents worth. ....

chief, are you saying the john deere literature is wrong. It would not surprise me I commonly find mistakes, usually in New Holland literature. In John Deere's propaganda is lists the 4300 with 92 c.i.,1.5 liters, and the 4400 with 101 c.i., 1.6 liters. The 4310 is listed as 91.3 c.i., 1.5 l and the 4410 is listed as 91.3 c.i., 1.5 l. I assumed they just rounded the 91.3 to 92 and it was the same engine. The 4300 is listed as 32 hp, the 4400 as 37.7 hp, the 4310 as 32 hp and the 4410 as 35 hp. ....

I figured JD just de-tuned the engine a little rather than use a different one to make their tractor line look fuller. Like the new 20 series, They are all listed as having the same displacement 2.44 l, but vary the Hp 35,40,45,50 for the hydro pto rating. Maybe they really are different engines just mis-printed. ....

I posted the information I found in my 4410 owner's manual. The 4400/4410 & 4300/4310 pretty much share the same engine. The hp and torque figures may vary from manual to manual. ....

Cheif is correct, they are different size engines. I too noticed the displacement figures is some past Deere ad literature, but my 4000 series tech manual gives the correct numbers. Frank. ....

Thanks, after my last post I checked deere's web site and it matched the numbers you gave and not the literature. Any ideas on the differing Hp in the new 20 series? ....
