I have a three year old 4400 HST 4wd. 3 point hitch has begun to jump up and down when at full lift height. Could not adjust. Dealer says the valve in the 3pt hitch is leaking by. This is the same thing happened to my first 4400. Have to replace entire valve, can't repair, 3 to 4 hundred dollars for part. Any way this could be a generic flaw and can get John Deere to assist in payment/replacement?

Call 1-800-jdlawns and tell them you need to talk to a service rep. Explain to them that you know about the "fix as fail" mod and think it's unfair that becase you had low hours on the machine you now have to pay the price. If they are not positive with you ask who you can write a letter to. ALSO--ask if they refuse to pay for it in full if they would "participate" in the repair. All these companies have invented extended warranties not just to make more money but it is sometimes their "way out" of post warranty help if you didn't spend the big bucks on the extended warranty. I can say for a fact that Deere is willing to "participate" somewhat if your selling dealer will participate also. ....

It sounds like you need to tighten the friction device on the lever. Item #5 is the nut to tighten it up. Just snug it up until it is tight enough to hold the position you want. ....
