Has anybody experienced a backward turning Tachometer? I noticed a week ago my tachometer needel was sticking, give it a LITTLE throttle and the needle would read 1900 rpm or so, I thought I would watch it for a little while before I called the dealer to see if it quit. Now it is going backwards, I will have to call the dealer this week. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

Could be a number of things along with a bad tach, such as a faulty ground, moisture in the dash panel, etc. Is it doing this all the time or just intermittently? Have you tried the tradtional tried and true "percussion adjustment"??? ;o)

No Chief I haven't tried smacking it yet. Dad always says "if all else fails get a bigger hammer", but I figgured I would call the dealer first. The tractor is not even a month old yet so I'll let the dealer do the pounding.

The "percussion adjustment" was meant more in the spirit of tractor maintenance humor but many problem has been at least temporarily fixed with a percussion adjustment. ;o)

Sounds like the water may have effected the dash panel.

Deere 42xx though 47xx are known for leaky panel gauges. The problem was supposed to be fixed when they brought out the -10 series.
