 2210 vs. 4115

I am looking at buying a tractor. I have 20 acres that is pretty much flat. I have around 2 acres to mow around the house and shop. I want to use the tractor out on my 160 acre place for little stuff like maintaining the gravel drive, using a FEL to move heavy stuff, etc. At frist the 2210 looked like a no brainer but it sounds like I should consider the 4115 for ground clearance. I want HST and I am going to mostly be mowing with it. I have been tore with buying a cheapo lawn tractor and a "real"t tractor, but I think I will get more use out of something like a 2210. Also, I want my wife to be comfortable using it.

Also, the 4115 has direct injection - is that a big deal?

Comments?

Thanks,
Darin

 2210 vs. 4115

Well I recently bought a 4110 and am very happy, but mainly went for that model because of the deal I got. I don't think the 2210 and the 4115 really compare even though the HP is similar, the 2210 is more of a big, very handy lawn tractor with a nice price where the 4115 is quite a bit bigger and much more capable. With those acres I personally would definately recommend the larger of the two, and if money is not much of a problem, why not go one more step to the 4210 which IMO is the first step in the "real" tractor line. Then again if you are on a budget and don't need to do a lot in a hurry (like me), the 2210 seems to me to be a very nice little rig. One of my main gripes with it was that it didn't even have turning brakes like a real tractor does, and if you have ever done any real work with a machine, you know how very very handy those can be.

There are minor pros and cons to direct and indirect injection (you can research this online), but basically as long as you have a good engine (yanmar, kubota, etc) both are fine.

 2210 vs. 4115

Darin,
Welcome to the board. If you look at the
'Size Tractor Needed' Forum here, you'll
find a wealth of good info.

My own preference is to go larger, but you have to keep agility, cost, and storage issues in mind. Do you have enough 'tractor tough' jobs in mind to justify the larger machine? I've found inexpensive MTD mowers adequate for lawn mowing, if you replace one every 6 years the cost is still under $300/year.
If you do get a CUT, you'll be suprised at the number of things you'll use it for!
Hope this helps,
bliz

 2210 vs. 4115

Actually I just reread your post properly and I missed the wife part the first time.

So now the obvious solution being recently married myself is to get a comfortable cheapo lawn tractor for her, and a new 4115 for yourself (with drink holder of course)! Problem solved.

 2210 vs. 4115

I visited the John Deere and Kubota dealer today. The 2210 won me over. I like the control layout, etc. The 2210 seems very well thought out, better than the Kubota.

I hope to have it by the weekend, the one they had in stock had the wrong tires.

D.
