 Gator Blades

Just wondering if anybody has tried Gator Blades on their mower. They are an after market mower blade that is supposed to have a better lift and mulch effect on grass. How well do they work and how much do they cost?

We sell them in nearly every application we can. When you miss a day or two of mowing they can make a big difference with the grass and they do well with leaves. Pro's nearly alway specify them.

It's the only type of blade we run. Most of the time we are cutting AS the sun comes up, the dew on the grass can make a difference in the end result, the added weight of the water discourages the blades from standing up so a little help is needed. They are also good at eliminating the odd leaf that volunteers for mulch duty.

We can't afford to have anything less than a perfect cut, every time.

Best of luck.

Same here. I bought a used ferris hydrowalk SD with them. I like them so i tried a set on my 52" stander. I just order 12 more for the standers and 4 for my exmark. I love them. Works great with mulching kits and leaves. The only time they don't work is when sucking up thatch after the dethatcher.

Green, I'll let you in on a little trick for getting better lift using Gator blades.

Cut up some windshield washer jugs and use 3M double-sided tape to stick the peices over the ends on the blades. A couple of layers of duct tape will work too, but doesn't last as long.

The plastic covers the openings in the blades and turns them into propellers. Major uplift.

Best of luck.

I also have been using gator blades for a few years, when
I sharpen my blades I also sharpen the 3 little wings on the end of each blade.I use a die grinder with a cut off
on it to sharpen the wings...oh don't forget the saftey
