Hey guys, nice board. I have been shopping for a while and have found 3 different 4410 tractors for sale. 3 different dealers in my area, each a 2002 demo to be sold as new. Just seems strange to me. Any insight as to why they would each have an '02 model left in stock? Very low hours-each less than 22. Thanks from Tennessee.

Rocky Top,

Welcome to Tractor Point! I am a fellow Tennesseean as well near LBL. Where bouts are you at? My opinion on why so many 4410's left is that their pricing is what runs off the customer. They run about $1,500 more than a 4310 and you gain only 3 hp. Most customers cannot justify that cost for so little. I could not either but got a demo much like you are looking at. The price was cheaper than the 4310 so I jumped on it! Mine is also a 2002 model. I love the tractor and have put about 100 hours on it. If you buy one, consider negotiating in dual front & rear work lights $50, rental upgrade kit $229, engine block heater$90, and seat arm rest kit $50. Make them give you a hat or two as well! ;o) You also should consider negotiating in an implement package and FEL too. You will get the best chance at a haggled down price buying up front with the tractor and roll the entire package into the financing. Good Luck! They are VERY nice tractors although maybe a bit on the large size for some. ....

Hey Chief-I'm in Franklin, TN. Well, about 23 miles southeast of Franklin anyway beside the Natchez Trace. I started to ask you if you fish any since you are near LBL but then I read your profile. Fishing is about to bust wide open around here and I am ready!!

Thanks for the advice. I have hardwood acerage. Want to manage that, keep the weeds down, build a pond, skid logs, split firewood, and whatever else my wife comes up with when she watches HGTV!!! I see you have a belly mower. Are you happy with it? What about a bush hog or a flail mower? I'm not sure what a flail mower is good for. Any thoughts there? ....

By the way-I can't get my computer at home or at the office to let me build and price a new one on the JD site. Any ideas why? Does it have to do with some settings in my computers?

Thanks,

RT ....

The JD site makes extensive use of pop-ups, and if you have a pop-up blocker you will need to disable it when on the JD site.

Regarding the 4410, when I was shopping I just couldn't justify the extra $1500 for only 10% more power. If it was $500 more I would have gone for it. ....

Rocky Top, I use my 4410 for pretty much everything you mentioned except the pond building. You will need a dozer for that. Yes, I have the 72" MMM and yes I and VERY happy with it. It gives a real nice cut and is built like a tank (7 guage steel, all a one piece stamping). For you application, I would recommend the MX5 rotary cutter. The flail mower is a nice cutting implement but does not like a lot of debry, rocks and brush/sapplings. They are a bit on the pricey side as well. I agree, sounds to me like your pop up blocker is causing the JD website not to work. ....

Thanks for the pop up direction. Works great. Went to local green dealer today. Here's what I found.
4410 w/hydrostat $16,995
420 Loader 2,995
LX5 Rotary Cut 1,200
Frontier BB1060 Box Blade 600
I-Match Hitch 220
Arm Rest Kit 75
6 Front Weights 180
Rental Upgrade Kit 305
Fluid Rear Tires 225
Sub-Total 22,895
Tax 1,828
Total 24,723
Looks like his tractor price is OK but adds are too high. Going tomorrow to an out of town dealer. Has a new 2003 4510 but not hydrostat for 16,200. Anybody here have a 4510? Pros and Cons? Chief-How's the fishing over there? Never have been to the LBL area. I need to make it over that way and wet a line.

I don't know what the list price is, but I'll offer a few comments.

Don't let them sell you the 420 loader, you want the 430 loader. It has higher lift height, 20+% higher lift capacity, and 33% stronger break-out capacity. It's a much stronger loader.

With the loader you probably don't need front weights. Most people just leave the loader on for front ballast and if you need more weight you can scoop up a bucket of dirt.

You could also go with a 72" box blade instead of the 60". You want this to be wide enough so that it covers your tracks and a 60" won't cut it.

If you did the list price computations on the JD web site how does this price compare? ....

Thanks for your input. That's exactly the kind of insight I was looking for on the loader and the box blade. I asked salesman about the 430 loader. "What's the difference between the 420 and 30?" His reply-"About 550 bucks and 6 inches lift." I was less than thrilled about his answer.

I'll delete the front weights, thanks.

I'll check out the prices of adds tomorrow on JD and report back. Thanks for all of the info.

RT ....

You got a mediocre salesman! the price on the 4410 is not bad but the rest is BS! Including trying to sell you a 420 FEL. Don't get it! Get the 430 loader. Get the MX5 (should run around $1500 for a reasonable price even less), box blade should be $450.........basicly he can knock off about 25% from the extras an he is still making money. Ask for the sales manager and make him an offer on this tractor with a 430 FEL and the extras minus 25%. Tell him the price you came up with and you are ready to buy NOW. If he does not bite; walk out and go somewhere else. ....

Hey Chief I got a question for you, are you sure your 72" MMM is 7 guage steel? When i ordered my tractor (still waiting) I wanted a 7Iron deck but that was only offered in a 60". I went with the 72" but was told per the dealer it was thinner guage than the 7Iron, is my dealer wrong? If not why don't they offer a 72" 7Iron? Just wondered what you thought. ....

Unless there have been changes that I am not aware of; the 60" & 72" mower are BOTH 7 guage steel (7 Iron mowers) Get the 72" mower as the 60" mower is not wide enough to overlap past the width of the rear tires. Sounds to me like your salesman is either very inexperienced or is just plain full of s#!t. Best way to buy is to know what you want going in the door and know the price and tell him what you are willing to pay and have in mind a percentage of haggle room on price. ....

Chief I did go with the 72" deck but I did have two different dealers tell me that there was no 7Iron decks in 72" only 60". And the way they made it sound Deere has never made a 72" 7Iron for a compact yet. ....

Well, my tractor and MMM I purchased at the same time. I purchased a John Deere 72" MMM and mine is 7 guage steel. I am not aware that John Deere has changed this but it could be. My last info. was that John Deere went to all 7 Iron mowers with some exceptions on the smaller mowers. ....

Unless there have been recent changes that I am unaware of; this link shows the deck thickness of the 72" MMM as being .177 thick, which is 7 guage. ....

Just wondering Chief does your mower have a 7Iron decal on the left side? Not that that means much I just never seen one on a 72". Thanks for the info. ....

My deck does not have the 7 Iron decals on it I think that is the marketing hype for the ZTR's and other mowers. It would make sense that they make most if not all out of 7 guage steel as it would simplify stockage for production. ....

Chief
You making to much sense with your last statement! LOL.
Since when did tractor manufacturers use "common sense"
to make sense? Decisions sometimes are made by which supply company has a fly-in fishing condo in Canada. LOL But your right it would make sense to use the same material unless the cost is prohibitive. ....
