 790 pulling around 6000lbs.

Well I went and bought a large clevis from JD so that i could haul my pintle hook equipped "manure wagon" with the tractor. I would guess it weighed at least 6000lbs.

The clevis/pintle hook setup worked well with a little slop but no real problems. The tractor pulled and stopped it effortlessly. tractor actually backs the trailer better than the truck due to the gearing. The only time you really felt the weight was when you braked and the tractor would rock from the weight. slamming the drawbar.

No ballast other than the FEL on the front and the trailer was weighted pretty even front to back. tongue weight must have been about 500lbs. or so.

Funny I've been told that before Smile

I really was impressed with the tractors towing ability. I think I used 5th gear, or as I call it 1st with the range selector in Hi. RPM's around 1500 and no lugging.

I have pulled my equipment trailer to the barn a few times with 100 sixty or more pound bale. I never had any problems but used the ball on the tow bar. It is best to be in 4 wheel with the weight.

It is alot easier to manuver and I use the tractor with the equipment trailer a lot.

I never looked in the book. It just needed to be done.

I used 4 wd with the exception of some tight backing when I would have been ripping up the turf.

I would lke to add a ball but I always have the clevis on so I need to rig something up.

WE used to have a lot of fun with some of our used Cadets on of my favorites was the 149 model. We would hook them up to 130 hp farm tractors that weigh in about 13000 to 15000 lbs. You couldn't just trow the lever ahead but you had to have full throttle and make that hydro scream but not to much as you could just sit and spin. After a second or two it would start rolling, couldn't gain fast or you would again just spin. To see that little cadet garden tractor pull that tractor was something. The tractor operator had the control because a jab on the brakes quickly stopped both.
