I am planning to buy a small tractor like either the JD 4310 or the Kubota B2910HSD. I will also need a front loader and a mower to handle about 10 acres with hills and trees. The Deere is about $1500 more than the Kubota, both fully equipped. What are your opinions of the two?

My husband and I are also shopping for a compact tractor and are looking at the JD4310. I inquired about the JD4210 and my dealer told me that it was underpowered to handle a bucket and any other attachment together. ....

Karen, check your ankle for finger prints. Someone is pulling your leg.

Whenever I hear a story like that it usually turns out that the dealer would have to order what you want and he has what he is steering you toward in stock, maybe for a long time and needs to unload it.

I cannot think of a circumstance where you would routinely work the FEL (the bucket) while operating an implement from the PTO or the three point hitch.

A word to the wise........ ....

I'd have to disagree with the saleman. Both uses identical implement models. Yes, the 4310 is 4 hp more and can upgrade to operate a front blade (not avail on 4210), a larger front loader (model 430 lifting capacity is 158lbs more than model 420 that the 4210 is fitted with) and a larger rotary cutter but other than these, both uses the same implements.
Next time you're at the dealer, ask for the 4000 TEN Series pamplet that gives you the specs. ....

Karen, I have a 2210 with FEL, a LOT smaller and every time I use it I am VERY thankfull I bought the FEL. To me the only difference between green and orange is Pedal placement/controls on the cockpit and weight. Price difference is nominal. Warranty/service nominal as are financeing options. On the financeing JD AND Kubota have NO competition. Both good machines. ALL very capable of handeling a FEL. Try a different dealer or better yet try several and take test rides especially if you have never owned a tractoe before. ....
