 Comments on John Deere 2210

I am considering either a John Deere 2210 or a MF GC2300 and would appreciate any input I can get to help me decide what to buy. I wasn't aware of the 2210 model until I started out looking at the X595 garden tractor.
The 2210 seems to be a better value for me since both models are the same size and similar in power. The base model 2210 is less expensive and it includes a 3-point hitch and rear PTO which are expensive options on the X-series. The only drawback seems to be a bigger turning radius for the 2210. Anything else I should be aware of?
As background to my thinking about tractor size, I mow about 2 acres of smooth lawn with few obstructions so I'm planning to get a 60/62" mid-mount deck. I have a 400' asphalt driveway with about a 50' rise so a 2-stage snow blower is in order for Connecticut winters along with a front end loader for general maintenance work. I just received a deposit on my Simplicity Legacy that was the same wheelbase/width and had similar attachments, but I want to upgrade to 4WD and diesel.
I looked at the Kubota BX too, since all three tractors are so similar, but I found it a bit uncomfortable to use the hydrostatic control with my 6-3 height and long legs. The MF is also a rocker pedal design but it seems more comfortable.

I am in similar situations. The price I got for the JD2210 was $2,000 more than the Kubota BX2200, and the JD595 was antoher $2,000 more than the JD 2210. Even the JD salesman was surprised that their Garden Tractor was more expensive than the sub-compact.

Not sure about price differences between the Kubota vs MF vs Deere; however, I will say the 2210 is a very good cutting machine, and very capable of Front End Loader Work & 3 point work, i.e., 50" rear tiller, blade and rock rake. As for snow removal, I have the front blade 54" and feel you would simply enjoy pushing off your 400' drive with this machine.

I don't know where you got the quote for the 2210, but the quotes I got for Kubota 2200 and the 2210 were within $200 of each other. That was with FEL and 62"MMM. $12,200 for 2210. $12,400 for the Kubota 2200.

I have not seen the Massey myself, but I've heard from some have looked at them and were not pleased at all.

BTW, I love my 2210.

I'm also very pleased with the 2210, seems like just the perfect size for around the house. My dealer had both the BX and 2210 when I put em both side by side and played with both the 2210 just seemed like a bit more tractor. The price was 12400 with FEL and 62 MMM which was within 50 bucks of the BX. So far,, no regets on the Deere, only got about 9 hours on it.

later
Phil

I got my quote in the Maryland area. The JD dealer checked the computer, but he said there are no discounts/rebates availble on the JD2210.

I guess I will go with the BX2200.

There are no rebates on the 2210 itself, but there is one on the implements. $200 for each implement ($400 total). Any 2 implements count (MMM, FEL,..etc.)

Thanks!

I did not get any rebate - tractor or implement.

I don't think I will go back to the JD dealer not just because of purchase price, but I am thinking about the service and follow-ups. If he is not up-front now, how can I trust him later?

I still think the JD is a better machine than the BX-2200, but I don't think it is working out for me.

Thanks anyway.

Here the price difference was less than $300.00 between the Kubota and the JD. The Cockpit and controls were much more comfortable to me personally on the JD. The other brands have 19 % financeing Vs. Jd and Kubota which both run FULL TERM reduced rates, lately as lows 0 %.
