Any problems With JD4300 Sycro-Reverser Models

Does anyone with a JD 4300 Sycro-Reverser Model have any problems with either the tractors Clutch or other major mechanical/electrical problems. I have a 4200 that has a major clutch problem and I am considering a trade up to a 4300. My dealer has a 4200 hydro on order for me for a replacement, but I would like to stay with a geared tractor if at all possible. Thanks for all responses.

One of my tractors is a JD4400 with the Syncreverser and It works great, The only problem I had with the tractor is when delivered the 4WD light on the dash was not working and the dealer came out the next day and made an adjustment to the sensor and it works great. I run a small buisness with mine and its used everyday. I to like the Gear tranc and a cluch, I had a JD955 and didn't like it as much as I like a cluch, I find I have more control and if you have to do any rough terrain work IE plowing/disking its hard to maintain a steady even speed, yes there is a cruise control but if I have to use that I may as well use the Syncreverser. My dealer let me use both a Hydro and a Syncreverser for a week each on the job and I gave them both a good workout and the syncreverser won hands down for me, I did like the Hydro with a loader as it was a little faster but that caused me to bang into things. I noticed very little difference between pushing a hydro pedal all the time and useing the cluch as far a leg and foot fatigue go. I think a Hydro may be a little better for a weekend warrior in the long run as it is easyer for a unskilled operator to operate. Tom

I bought a 4300 last month with sync reverser and have had a couple of problemswith it. The shift linkage was very ponderous so I took it back to the dealer for repair. He said the linkage was rubbing. He also noticed that the 3 pt. when raised all the way up was causing the engine to drop a 100 rpm or so. Turns out the hydraulics were in some kind of overpressure situation at full lift. So he ordered a new rockshaft valve kit and apparently got tired of srewing with it and supposedly replaced the whole assembly. Well, the problem is still there and now I've got a sticky valve that sometimes doesn't let the 3 pt. drop. I've had to pull the seat and tap the valve with a hammer (4 times in the last 3 hours). Overall it's a pretty nice machine, but you'd expect to get power windows and air conditioning for the kind of money these things cost. Compared with a car, content and technology wise, tractors are way over priced. Also, the owners manual says the tractor was built by Yanmar, while all the sales literature led you to believe they are made in the USA by Deere. Does anyone know the full story?

Manual says engine manufactured by Yanmar, The rest of the tractor is manufactured and assembled in Augusta GA. Tom

My understanding is that Deere uses Yanmar engines & drivetrains, subs out most of the other parts, and assembles them in Georgia. If you want to stretch the definition, they are "made" (in the assembly sense) but not with 100% American made components.By the way - has anyone else heard that Yanmar is planning to distribute tractors (again!?) in the U.S. in 2 years and that Deere will need to find another supplier?
