14,000 is about right. I paid around that for mine last year.I got a 790 4wd, w/ballast box,mid pto and r4 tires & fel, for 14,900 try to get the dealer to throw in some extras like a mid mount pto, in case you ever decide to get a belly mount mower. or maybe get them to install power-beyond (hydralic hoses & connectors on tractors rear for a log splitter, back hoe etc. Definetly consider a ballast box if you get the fel, they're not that expensive (300-400 dollars) it's cheap insurance.
good luck Ron L. (new Park PA)

There's a bunch of reading about safety and operation in the archives that would be good to read. There are some basic ideas to get in mind and most people get the hang of things pretty fast. After that, an old notion that 'if it feels unsafe then it probably is' should keep most people out of trouble most of the time. A person does have to keep aware of unstable ground on slopes though because those are situations where a tractor can slide and there's no warning.

Ballasting a tractor for balance and traction isn't hard to get the hang of and then only slopes would be a concern. There's no mention of slopes in the description and stability of the tractor may not be a huge problem. A dealer should be able to say if there's anything about the terrain that might challenge a 790.

If I was maintaining 1000' of drive I'd probably use a box scraper with a hydraulic top-link. Box scrapers are sort the Swiss Army knives of landscaping implements. However, I wouldn't find mine very useful without a hydraulic top-link, which does require a rear valve controlled hydraulic outlet.
