Can anybody summarize the pros/cons of purchasing a 2210 vs. a 4110? Other than the 2210 being cheaper, are there serious compromises other than a little less hydraulic power?

I guess I am as close as you are going to come to someone to compare both design types. I currently own a 4100(for sale)and a BX22. Near as I can tell, the JD 2210 is a straight up clone of the Kubota BX2200.
The 4110 is more expensive because it has position control on the 3ph rather than the "drop stop" on the 2210/BX.
The 4110 also has differential braking (separate right and left brakes)where the 2210 and BX rely on a shortened wheelbase to execute tight turns.
Where the 2210/BX design really shines is where super-stability is needed.
If you land is flat as a pancake you might not notice the difference. If you have slopes to work you will like the stability designed into the BX/2210.
Conversely if you are working a woodlot, the 4110 with its better ground clearance will roll over stumps and other obstructions a bit better.
I have not noticed a dramatic difference in the loader/hydraulic capability between the two designs despite what the "numbers" say. Both loaders have the power to lift 6 cubic feet of wet soil, so the differences in the field are rather acedemic.
There is probably more to consider but that is all I can think of right now and it is time for breakfast! Let me know if you have other questions. ....

Wheel size and tread options are limited on a 2210. Smaller wheels also limit the height the 3pt will lift hence "limited" cat. 1 hitch ....

Thanks for your answer Mark, and sorry for taking so long to get back.

We have fields and slopes, some slopes steep that I plan to mow. We have woods, but I accept that there is a point where a person has to state priorities and live with compromise. 80% or more will be mowing, but there will be a bit of loader work and eventually snow removal on a 800 ft driveway in Minnesota. So a snow blower will probably be required.

I am interested in your comments about hydraulic power, because I have also been comparing 4100 with 4110. It seems the 4110 has better hydraulics and can lift more, but I suppose unless a person operated them side by side it would be difficult to compare. I am simply interested in a machine that has the hydraulic power to do what it was intended to do and not bog down. I prefer to buy a used 4100 with some implements, but the appearance of the 2210 and 4410 has attracted me because of their apparent stronger hydraulics than the 4100. Do you know anything about the realities of the hydraulics on the 4100 and what kind of loader work you can do with it? ....

Evan, I'm not quite sure why you are referring to a difference in hydraulic specs in the 4100 and 4110 models. The specs are identical. All of the mechanical specs are identical for the 4100 and 4110 models. As far as I can tell, the only changes in the 4110 from the 4100 are: a new plastic hood in the 4110, electric PTO and other electronic whistles. That's it. The real capabilities/ measurements remain the same. ....

The JD speces indicate that the 4110 have stronger hydraulics than the 4100, and my local dealer confirms that. ....

Evan, my 4100 has plenty of power in the FEL. A couple times I have gotten the bucket lip struck under a root and it pulled the rear end of the tractor off the ground with 500-600 pounds of rear ballast and the big german farm boy on the seat.

On the other end I have routinely hoisted and driven off with 1100 pound loads on the 3 pt hitch and it will lift even more, enough to tip the front end off the ground.

More hydraulic power than that would not necessarily sway me toward a different model. ....

I think Evan is comparing Hydraulic implement pump capacity 3.4 gpm on the 4010, 5.1 gpm on the 4110 and 5.5 gpm on the 2210. JD dealers love to use theese fine points to up-sell, IE. it takes less time to get the job done with a loader that raises .04 seconds faster and lowers .01 seconds slower. Its very easy to get caught in the stat zone. ....

Check out the frames on the 4100 and the 4110. The 4100 has a two price frame like a lawn tractor and the 4110 has a solid frame like a fram tractor. My dealer showed me the differance between the two.

I own a 4110 and I love it I plow 1500 ft. of northern MI driveway and have 4 acers of lawn plus cut wood off 14 acers of hills.

What do you want a small fram tractor or a large lawn tractor. ....

After a few hours in the saddle on the 2210 I can say the loader is slightly slower than the 4110. This is not a issue for me as it is still very fast. I guess if you were doing loader work day in, day out the faster speed might make a difference. Initially I was dead set against a loader on a tractor this size, and wel, er..hmmm, I was definately WRONG about that. The Large Garden tractor was a better choice for me based on total weight as I will be towing this several hours a month. I also will be useing mine to cut wood, no pictures are necessary, just come on up to Northern Michigan and look for the property posted "NO HUSKIES" and you are in the right place. LOL ....

I have not heard of this frame difference on these two models
(i.e. the 4100 vs. 4110). Has anyone heard of this ? I hardly think that the 4100 is a large lawn tractor. If the 4110 can do it, the 4100 can do the same exact things. These tractors are 99 % the same. ....
