O Ring replacement for FEL 70

Anyone have suggestions for extracting old O rings from the female fittings on a FEL 70. I've tried several variations of "dental" style tools, found at a local flea market, having tips formed in various hooked and angled contortions to remove the old worn rings all to no avail. Help!

I'm not sure which fitting is the problem. I guess the cylinder seals could be called female fittings, but female quick-connects from the valve to cylinder hoses is what comes to mind.

I guess I've never anticipated the problem. Anytime I've dealt with o-rings they just deform and pull out. I've had more trouble keeping them properly in their grooves while putting things back together than getting them out. If it's a female quick-disconnect, I do have a new one that I bought on general principal. If you don't get a better answer, I will look at my new one and see what I think.

Having started work life as a marine mechanic this was a common problem. We had a tool that we had fashioned out of wire which I will try and describe. In a straight piece of wire (normally thin brasing rod) we placed a 90 degree bend. The bent piece would be a little longer than the depth of the O ring grove. We would grind the inner side flat and then bend the tip into a barb, like a fish hook.
To use the tool you push the tip in on side of the O ring the furthest away from you. The barb should hook below the O ring and pulling it will lift the O ring out of the groove.
This is probably as clear as mud but maybe with follow up we can get this communicated or I could E-mail a picture to you.
Even with the proper tool this is not easy.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm going to give a try with the "thin brazing rod" idea and see if that'll do the trick!
