 4100 & Post Hole attachment

Are any of you using your 4100 to dig post holes? J.D. does not sell a post hole digger for the 4100 but there are aftermarket ones, right? How well does the 4100 do and what is a good source for a compatible post hole digger for the 4100? Thanks! Kevin

I use a "Speeco" post hole digger on my 4100 and it works great. I can dig 9" holes in clay soil without any problems, I would imagine that rocky soil would be much more difficult though. I paid $295 for the digger and $85 for the 9" auger, so far it has been money well spent.

Art - thanks for the reply. I never heard of Speeco but I will definately look for them. That seems like a great price for an implement. Does it attach to the 3PH just like the John Deere brands? Kevin

Kevin, I have used my neighbors 12" post hole digger several times and it worked great, no problems.
Eric

Rest assured that a JD4100 can run any suitable Post hole digger. The center link is buried under the seat and covered by a bracket that supports the seat and ROPS. My Gearmore PHD had to be modified so that it would not bind against the angled bracket and JD's PHD is configured in a similar manner. That is why they do not advise you use a PHD with this model. Make sure the one you buy will raise and lower without hitting anything on the tractor. MH
