JD 670 or Kubota 7300? Help!

I'm looking at the differences/better deal between a 1998 7300 with mower and loader for $12,800 and a 1997 JD 670 with a mower and loader for $14,000. Any advice is greatly appreciated.ThanksTom

JD 670 or Kubota 7300? Help!

Both are used and in similar condition. Both also have under a 100 hours. I am more familar with the B7300 and don't know how the JD compares to it.

Tom, you are going to have some diff. finding someone who's owned Green and Orange units of similar caliber but good luck. Meanwhile I have some opinions on the B7300(I own one). I have been very satisfied with my 98 B7300. No probs but it only has 50 hrs. on it. The unit is a very capable tractor and for 12,800 for loader and mower it is a reasonable price. The B7300 is the lowest price Kubota "compact diesel tractor" and as such it doesn't have a few of the plusses of the B1700-2400 series. Although the lowest price it still has what appears to be sturdy and similar mechanicals of the better units. It still has a very quiet engine(16 hp) excellent HST and 4wd. Some of the frills that are missing are power steering, high output hydraulic pump(for accessories) and alternator, position control on the rear PTO(which means you have to run rear impliments that have their own wheels or weight support system) and some decent instrumentation. The only thing that could be considered significant for the small user is the lack of power steering. I have used the loader(you MUST use 4wd and have a rear counterweight) and the steering is somewhat stiff. I can use it for a few hours but if you are buying it for a lot of loader use you will want power steering. For mowing I have guite a few trees and don't consider it a problem negotiating them. The mower is fantastic and the tractor is extremely manuverable. It seems to be a bulletproof unit and All in all you can't go wrong with it. Kubotas have always had excellent reliability and resale value. For more input you could check the semi official and impressive Kubota web site. http://www.kubotasource.com/

$12,800 doesn't sound like it's that great (or bad) a deal. If you check Carver's website as a reference, a new B7300 w/loader and mid-mount moweris about the same (plus shipping and whatever else). If it's used, you should not pay what it costs new, even if it has very low hours.I'm looking for a similar setup, hopefully this fall. Let us know how you make out.
