 JD 4200 vs Kubota B2910

Help! I will be maintaining 8 acres of land. Four acres will be lawn the rest brush and trees. I also have about a 450 foot drive to plow. We will also have a large garden to til. Using the tractor for mowing, leaf removal, snow throwing, and tilling I think it will be between the JD 4200 and Kubota B2910. I have a few questions. First is this too much tractor. Second. Which one! I am also 6'-5" and 275 lbs. I heard the Kubota may not be as comfortable. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are that large it could be that neither tractor will be large enough for you to get comfortable. I own the Kubota and haven't heard anything about the JD being more comfortable, but the only way for you to find out is to try out the tractors until you find one that is comfortable. You might want to try the L3710 Kubota or even larger.

Michael, I don't think either a 4200 or a 2910 will be too large. They are both the right size for mowing and leaf removal on your 4 acre lawn. You don't say how much snowfall you get. If you are going to buy a snowblower then either of these would be fine. If you intend to plow snow and you get a lot of snow, then you MAY find them to be too small and light, depends on how much snow and if you have a lot of room to plow it. I don't have experience with tillers but I assume either of these tractor will have no problem with the correct size tiller. Now as to your height, weight and relative comfort you're going to have to go out and try the tractors because comfort is a real subjective thing. Also try out the New Holland (TC25D maybe) for comparison. I wouldn't go any smaller on the tractor - I think you sized pretty well to start with. BTW, I started my shopping set on either a 2710 or a 4200. Ended up buying a JD4400 and am still convinced I made the right decision, especially after spending 4 hours yesterday moving 30" of wet, heavy snow at both my parent's and my place. A hydro tranny is the ONLY way to go for a lot of loader work.
