 4500 & 4600 specs

I just priced a 4500 at the dealer when I got home I noticed the displacement on the 4500 and the 4600 was the same. Could someone tell me how they got the extra hpout of the 4600?Thanks, I'm just curious.

Norman, I assume the difference is due to the fact that the 4600 is rated at 2700 rpm while the 4500 is rated at 2600 rpm. The 4600 has ~10% more hp (39 vs 43) and about 4% more hydraulic pump capacity. Their weights and dimensions are identical. They must have different PTO gearing to get 540 rpm at two different rated engine speeds.

Jeff, I found out today from the dealer that the engines have different injectors so that the 4600 gets more fuel, hence more hp. Also more pressure when injected. That was there explanation. Sounds reasonable.
Thanks

My dealer said the same thing about bigger injectors and more fuel. However, that does not make sense unless there is more air (like with a turbo) to keep the air/fuel ration correct. I do not believe you can just add more fuel. You will get unburned fuel. I was hoping JD was adding turbos to some of the 4000 series tractors, but not yet as far as I can find out.
