John Deere 955 3 Points Arms Slow Going Down.

I need some help! I just bought a used JD 955 and the 3 point lift arms go down very very slowly. I turned the round black control valve that's by my left foot. I think I may had turned it to much. How many times will it turn?
All help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Is there any weight on the hitch?

I have a Kubota but all of these work pretty much the same. The knob when closed will stop the implement from descending. Opening the valve will allow th implement to fall, speed regulated by how far open the valve is. I often adjust the speed of descent by turning the valve with one hand while I move the hitch lever with the other so I can drop the implement at the correct speed for the weight.

Are you saying that is what you are doing and it does not want to fall as quick as you want?.

I have a 755, the manual covers 755,855,955.
From what you said about the knob by your left foot,(in the center?) that knob/crank is for the mower deck. I have not used this yet so can't give you a run down on it's operation. The control knob/valve for the 3pt is under the seat on drivers left side. Operates as explained above. If you need something out of the operators or shop manual, just ask.
Good luck

Hettric,

The knob between the operator's feet controls something on the mower deck?

Now you've got me wondering......

Interesting that the 3-point drop rate has to be made under the seat. Seems very inconvenient to me.

Oh well......I learn something new every day at this place, which is why I enjoy the company so much.

Many thanks.

Joel

Hettric is correct. The dial on the floor board is to adjust the cutting height of the mid mower or to hold it completely up when you just want to raise and lower the 3 point.
The dial under the seat is to control the rate of drop.
If it still drops slow you may want to change out the hydraulic filter. That has been a problem on my old 755 in the past.

Well, it's not really *under* the seat, more like it's behind the operators legs. I thought most of them were there. Not too inconvenient, it would be a lot worse if you had to get out of the seat and walk to the rear of the tractor to adjust.

Actually it is under the seat. You have to lift the seat to adjust it. On my 4210 it is between the legs in front of the seat.
