 JD 790 LOADER PROBLEM

HELP, THE WOODS LOADER ON MY JD 790 IS VERY SLOW TO LIFT AND SQUEALS LOADLY, I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WAS POSSIBLY THE CYLINDER OR THE VALVE. I HAVE CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AND THERE ARE NO EXTERNAL LEAKS. HOW DO I CHECK FOR A BLOWN VALVE OR CYLINDER PROBLEM? THE SQUEALLING SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE SEAT WHERE THE FLUID RESERVIOR IS. THE BUCKET TILTS BACK AND FORTH FINE AND IT DROPS AS IS SHOULD. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE VERY SLOW LIFT. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP AS THIS IS MY FIRST TRACTOR AND I'M LEARNING AS I GO.

 JD 790 LOADER PROBLEM

Is this a new problem or has it always worked this way? Does the loader drift down if you leave it in a raised position? It sounds like you could have a restriction in a hose or steel line. Do any of the steel lines have a kink or sharp bend in it? If this is a problem that has been there since the loader has been installed, I might suspect an obstruction in a line. I have seen plastic caps left on lines when fittings are assembled cause this problem. Once I found a 3/8 nut inside a quick coupler. There are lots of possibilities, let me know if you have any more specifics to help narrow it down.

 JD 790 LOADER PROBLEM

Swap the quick couplers for the bucket to the loader arms and arms to the bucket connections and try it again. If the problem moves to the bucket, its the loade valve, if it stays with the loader arms its in the loader cylinders.

 JD 790 LOADER PROBLEM

check your male/female quick couplers, sometimes the seating snap ring in the coupler will do exactly as you described. I have had to replace both male and female couplers on my 419 and I carry a few on hand. A bad coupler will act like a leak and will not seal or apply full presure as the poppet acts as a restrictor (squeal as in a by pass/overload condition)if not seated correctly.
Your by-pass /relief valve is under the seat,I will bet you have a bad male coupler in that circuit.
