I'm not sure how much help I am going to be but I will try. I purchased a new 4100 w/60" deck, hydro transmision, turf tires and dscv for $14,000. As for the reliability of hydro transmissions I also own a 318 w/hydro that has been very reliable. The 4100 is a new model and I can not speak about the relialablilty of the hydro except that I have 60 hours of use on the machine without a failure. I have a loader and tiller for the 4100 and have used them to near maximum conditions without a problem with the hydro transmission.

4100 with 54" deck for $13,500. I have the hydro and it is generally about $1000 more than the gear.

We paid $16,000 for the 4100 hydro, R4 tires, 410 loader, ballast box, 54" mower(2)Wheel weights. After switching from gear to Hydro, I'll never look back. Our's is still new, but I don't know anyone who has ever had a problem.

I had a 316 with hydro for 12 years and at times abused it, pushed the machine to stall many times and never had a hydro issue at all. I bought the 4100 with hydro for that reason and would certainly only go hydro whatever tractor I bought. Well worth the extra $

I need a reality check. The prices that my local (CT) dealer is quoting are nowhere near anything posted here. After some negotiation, I just got the following quote: 4100 Hydro, R4's w/Calcium, 60" Deck, Loader, 54" Plow Blade, and all misc.mounting hardware...just over $19,000.

Most prices I've seen, including what I paid, are around 16500 for the 4100 with FWD, HST, JD loader and 60" belly mount after discounts. The blade, if it's JD is worth 2500. Don
