 ten series and 48 backhoe-Problem

Guy,

I hate even postung this, never want to give the anti green side any ammo but here goes;

I have been waiting on my new 4310 with 430 loader, 60 in belly mower and 48 backhoe-turf tires and ehydro 4wheel drive.

The dealer called two weeks ago, its in but I just need to put the deck on. I am waiting and have not heard anything so I take a ride up to see it.

The tractor is outside and they cannot get the 48 backhoe to fit, the steps rub against the wheels, They called deere for advise but are waiting for some imput. If they move the tires out the deck gets hit so I am in limbo.

Anyone have a similiar problem-dealers know of a fit for this. I was thinking some type of extension kit. The backhoe seems real close to the rear seat

I haven't heard of this problem, but possibly they are using the wrong attaching kits. Deere is calling for BM19566 and BM19564. I hope this helps.

Do you mean the fold out steps on the stabilizers? If so.
On my 4400 the steps are turned to the rear side of the stabilizers. If they are turned to the front they will also hit the tires.

I have heard of people reversing the stabilizer shoes for similar reasons. That would provide a narrower stance and less stability though. Different types of shoes also are available, at least for industrial hoes.

If steps refer to footrests there might be a problem. Footrests are pretty much fixed on the hoes I've seen. An alternative mount the puts the hoe further back is a possibility. Other alternatives seem less agreeable. Smaller diameter turf tires, if the current tires are R1's, might work. Removing the MMM and adjusting the wheels out each time the hoe is used is another solution, but one with a high aggravation factor.

Wait and see what the dealer comes up with I guess. I do have some sympathies with JD if there's no dealer fix. MMM's and sub-frame hoes each tend to compromise other uses of a tractor. They each are fairly special purpose attachments that are 'shoe-horned' onto tractors that, at least conceptually, are general-purpose power mobile power plants. There probably are limits to how completely integrated a tractor and set of attachments can be designed. I don't know if it's realistic to expect a manufacturer to field-test all combinations of tractors and attachments for compatibility. However, if there's no fix, it would be nice if dealers knew about any incompatibilities before they sold one.

The problem turned out to be the backhoe braket, the bracket was mislabled and when they got a new one in form the factory the unit now fits right. Should have been an easy find and not taken six weeks-but its all better now

That's a good, even if aggravating result. I hope pharmaceutical companies have better control over their labeling.
