 Price check on JD650

I'm pretty close to closing the deal on a new tractor. I am trading in a JD650 4X4 with Dozer blade, turf tires, tires chains (almost new). The tires have 80% tread remaining. No power steering. 18 hp 2 cyl diesel. This machine has 2400 hrs and has sat outside a bit and is quite faded. Mechanically it is solid. I have recieved three offers from dealers. The dealer with the best price on the new machine also has the best price on the trade in. Can you believe that stroke of luck? Oh well, here are the offers. $3200, $4200, and $4650. Should I take the money and run or try to sell on my own?

Write the Check!!! There are plenty of 4x4 18 hp Yanmars floating around the country with less hours and under 5K retail. Just make sure the dealer is the one you want to work with.

Peters, dealer seems pretty good. But, he's got so much business it seems like he does'nt care whether I buy a tractor or not. He told me between him and two other salespersons that they sell about thirty compacts a month. Maybe thats why they have the best price. Anyway, the price that was quoted in December has gone up $275. He said this was a New Holland price increase and out of his control. I am a little irked about this. Are'nt we in a recession. Everyone else is discounting consumer goods. Why not New Holland?

Check if the one he is selling you is last years model or 2002. If he is selling last years he is pulling your chain and I would go back to the dealer with the next best price and see if he will match. He may also have a 2001 in stock as he may not move inventory as quickly. He may also be more willing now to move the inventory.
Some dealers are stictly dealing on volume sales and therefore are not overly concerned with service. It maybe good to get the price but you may have 30 other tractor ahead of you. If you are in a farming area and this is a volume seller then the guy with the 100k+ tractor will get preference.
