 1050 good price?

What is a good price for a 1983 JD 1050, 2 wd, power steering, including a 6 foot belly finish mower, turf tires. Do not know the hours, but it has been well maintained. Are there any particular areas to look for problems on this model of tractor?

 1050 good price?

I don't know about the price for a 2wd 1050. A 4wd 1050 in good condition would be worth pretty much what it cost new, but the 2wd doesn't hold value as well. They are nice tractors and I'm not aware of any faults. The power steering is the power assist type via an external steering cylinder on the left side. These steering assist assemblies did tend to leak oil - but that's not a big problem and there are kits available for it anyway. The collar shift transmission and 3 cylinder engine were ruggedly built. The 1050 JD is the smallest turbocharged tractor of which I am aware. Don't worry about the turbo; it is a low pressure type and real durable.
I'm trying to think of something bad to say about it....OK, here is a little something: With ag tires the first step up from the ground onto the platform of a 1050 is just a little too high for me to get on and off comfortably. The turf tires might lower the tractor just enough to make this OK, but I'd check it out....Good luck!i

 1050 good price?

In regards to your price question, I just finished a ground up restoration of a 2wd 1050 including rebuilding the engine, clutches, brakes, injectors etc. I paid $4000 for an 81 model with 3000 hrs and put $2000 on the rebuild doing all of the labor myself. I am really impressed with the engineering and quality of the 1050. I would do it again and have been offered more than I have in it several times.

In central Arkansas, the 1050 goes for $6800 up w/o implements and I have seen them in southen Mo. for $8250 sans implements.

Most that I looked at were in the 7000 range with an avg of 1800 hours. I would do it again and you will always get your money back with a Deere. All of the parts will have to come from deere as the tractor is still too new for aftermarket parts, but everything I ordered was delivered in 3 days and it is all quality.

I have parts manuals, etc. let me know if i can help.
